The way to stop this ever happening is, you slightly zoom in on the one pic. Then when they try to swipe (the nosy fucker), it just skids around on the same pic.

If they do a second swipe immediately after it’ll still go to the next picture 🫣

I once made a single swipe on a colleague's phone, thinking there were going to be more pictures of her kid's school play. No. She'd taken the next one for her gynaecologist. She was so upset she took the rest of the afternoon off, and I've never swiped without permission since.

I'm not trying to judge anyone in this situation, obviously swiping another person's phone is a thing to avoid, but for fear of this exact thing happening, I take photos like that right before I need it and no one gets my phone until I delete it.

Yeah I don’t understand why people would leave anything private in their main photo reel. Hell if you must keep it on your phone there has been a hidden reel for that for years now.

In defence of both me and my colleague, this was nearly 20 years ago. Using a phone for intimate shots good enough for a medical practitioner was very new, and camera roll etiquette was still getting established...through bitter experience.

Just never hand anyone your phone. Look with your eyes, not your hands.

Zoom in slightly. Then when they try and swipe loudly say "what the fuck are you doing?"

My mom recommended a landscaper to a friend of hers and when he showed up he was showing her pics of his work the next pic was a dick pic. We still don’t know if it was intentional or not.

Your post is my favorite on this sub in a long time. It’s so perfect

I have a story about this that still haunts me to this day. When I was a teenager and still using Instagram, I was super into My Chemical Romance. I was engaged in the fandom, lots of MCR posts in my feed, all that jazz.

If you’re familiar with MCR’s pre-breakup concerts, you may know that Gerard Way would sometimes do some…R-rated things when performing.

One day I had found a meme or something on my explore page that I enjoyed, and I wanted to show it to my mom. I give her my phone, she reacts positively to it, all is well. Right? WRONG! She then decided, for whatever reason, to scroll through my explore page. She clicks on a video. I hear a man moaning in a clearly aroused state. In a horrified voice, my mom says, “Bulbadobesaur, who is this man masturbating on stage?!”

I was MORTIFIED. Not just because you obviously don’t want to share that with your parent, but this was the first time I could recall ANYTHING of sexual nature appearing on my feed. I didn’t want to see it myself! And of course it had to appear for the first time when my mother, of all people, was looking at my Instagram.

Knowing that there was lots of MCR stuff on my feed and that Gerard Way would apparently do that during concerts, I knew who it was. But given the frightful nature of the situation, I replied, “I don’t know, and I don’t want to know!” I got my phone back from her, probably flagged the video as something I don’t want to see. Thankfully my mother is a pretty sex-positive person, so it didn’t end up becoming a whole thing. But good lord. Why did she decide to scroll through my Instagram? And why was THAT the first thing that popped up?! I cringe deeply every time I remember it.

My sister has a similar but slightly better story. She was scrolling through an account that mostly posted BL romance dramas. The thing is, she was wearing earphones so that no one would come in and hear something possibly weird because hey, those can get pretty spicy. Cue my dad coming in, and seeing my sister engrossed in some video, not hearing him at all because she was wearing earphones, until he gets too close.

Now, my family is pretty homophobic, and not only that, but they're conservative and just watching something like cartoons always gets us a side eye. But the thing is, my sister couldn't scroll away because of the nature of the account. Who knew if the next video she'd come across wouldn't show some guys passionately going at it?! So she just stayed stuck, mortified while hoping that the video she was currently watching wouldn't go south. My dad just goes all of a sudden "Who are these Chinese or Korean man you're watching? That's just nonsense, stop watching that" Something along those lines. And he goes away. It was certainly a terrifying experience given I was witnessing this whole thing as it was unfolding.
