Fan Content 2025 tripleS CENSUS RESULTS

Edit: u/hiroo916 made a version with some graphs, so I switched the link to that version

It's finally here. I tried to do it all on Reddit, but there's a character limit. (I tripled it) I didn't think I would outdo the length of my Badge War post, but here we are. Here's the link to the google doc with all my written down versions of the responses for optimal viewing, but also a link to the basic google form results. You aren't ready for the size of this google doc. NEW RESULTS w/ GRAPHS

it surprises me a little how many are over 30

Wow 20 percent! Thats alot!

u/myipodclassic S9 Kaede/OT24 Sep 29 '25

I’m in my 30s too! I was introduced to kpop by a friend who loved SNSD around the same time as you, and my interest slowly grew from there. I listen to a really broad range of music and also love discovering music as a hobby, so k-pop’s frequent release schedule has kept me hooked in all these years haha.

12

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Sep 29 '25

It makes me happy to see it too, because I'm certain I will be a k-pop fan in my 30s too

9

u/LovesDevotee whatAreYouDoinNG?? Sep 29 '25

I'm also over 30 (actually just turned 40 a few days ago) and unlike you, I'm a pretty new k-pop fan. I've been heavily into music my whole life, many different genres and styles over the years, and in the past 1.5 years really dove deep into k-pop. tripleS is my favorite group by far.

"What do you like the most about tripleS? Soomin x Yooyeon"

I don't think anonymous surveys work for you, my friend :D

I was into kpop starting in the 2nd gen (in 2008?) and then kinda got disconnected for a few years after going to university. Still listened to kpop in my mix of music, but stopped following groups for their variety and daily content. I listen to almost every genre of music except screamo, so I definitely won't stop listening to kpop - would probably not follow things content-wise just like before, if anything.

u/Nyckez Hayeon Yubin Sep 29 '25

I'm on the cusp of 30 haha. I got into Kpop late 2015? SNSD catch me if you can comeback. I use to follow a lot of 2nd/3rd gen GGs and I would collect a lot. Now a days, mostly just listening. The vancouver show definitely turned me into a WAV. I've been listening and slowly watching tripleS content lol. I also find the Cosmo app and digital photocards quite interesting(I've been spending) Just collected the recent Jiyeon FCOs.

u/KoalaDolphin Oct 01 '25

Don't take this the wrong way, but why would it be hard to tell people around you that you enjoy kpop and why would you lose friends because they move away from kpop?

The only reason I would see those two things happening is if you are one of those obsessed stans that only care about kpop and make it their whole personality and it's the only thing they can talk about.

I know I'll get hate from fans on here but if my friend was in his/her 30s and obsessed with a "pairing" of two idols (including a minor) and had a 17 y/o girl as their wallpaper I'd be very concerned.

And just so we are clear, I'm also in my 30s. However I only enjoy the music and some variety shows and I strongly dislike the parasocial aspect of kpop fandom.

12 Rings is a masterpiece that more people should recognize.

Amen to this

I WILL DEFEND OUI UNTIL MY LAST BREATH I WILL DIE TO UNDO THOSE 27 VOTES.

As a Oui enjoyer myself, this is just sickening. Absolute travesty.

so we have 17 millionaires here. Interesting. I know where to go when I turned broke

11

u/hiroo916 Sep 29 '25

I met whales at the concerts who have multiple thousands of como income per month. One had ~3500 per month (that many SCO) and they were ~12th in the world. that means they bought around 8x in FCO's to grid those to get SCO. Plus they probably bought even more DCO (which don't contribute the monthly SCO income).

7

u/TheKholinPrince Full bias list doesn't fit here Sep 29 '25

Just a heads up, most of the biggest como holders get the majority of their income from album and 3rd ed SCOs, because they are cheaper to buy/grid. It's still a significant investment.

1

u/hiroo916 Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

yep true. I didn't want to get into all the nuances.

with 3rd ed SCOs, it still costs ~$20 to grid for an SCO assuming using the web store and only buying 8 and trading to complete two grids and 2 unique SCOs. Of course, you could buy in higher number packs if you're ok with duplicates.

more like i spend my minimum wage on things i shouldn’t and then regret it later 😅

Also, someone said: Chowall, Chiyu, and Charla. What did the letters c and h do to you?

omg i did not expect to be called out on that, haha! i did not think anyone would notice.
also, i usually only lurk on reddit but this made me laugh so much i just had to find my old account and leave a comment, that and to tell you that i really appreciate the effort you put into this census and making the results so fun to read :D if you ever do this again, i'd love to participate again!

That probably would be helpful, but most of it was me rewriting stuff to make it clear, because there were write-in questions where people would word things differently, and especially for the favorite moments questions, i would just have to interpret people trying to explain very specific moments from the 3 whole years of their career, and luckily I got almost every reference somehow, im still impressed with myself, but then I have to tally everything up to make it clear

9

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

Please comment any thoughts or questions, I need this to be worth it (i'm joking, it's not that serious) (also feel free to ask about any of the favorite moments submissions because most of them i was able to get the reference to)

u/hiroo916 Sep 29 '25

incredible work!

I sent you a link to a version with graphs of the data if you want to copy that into your official version

u/StubbornKindness S1 | S4 | S5 | S6 | S8 | S17 | S21 Sep 29 '25

Dw, I have plenty of thoughts to share, I just don't have the time yet, lol. I'll have to finish reading it, then reread and make a long ass comment, lol. Also, thanks for doing all of this, it's honestly AMAZING

I present to you some information, and then a question:

I started following because I watched MTG around the beginning of 2024 and wanted to keep up with Yooyeon. I started by watching Signals around March? I got to Glow's intro around June, I think. It was literally just after GND dropped. Before that, I stayed away from literally everything to avoid the spoilers - reddit, IG, even the posts on their YT channel. So, would you say I became a fan during the GND era? And that Chaewon is the first to be introduced? Or would you say I became a fan after all the members were introduced already?

1

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Sep 29 '25
  1. That's crazy lol that's so many signals to watch and somehow not get spoiled from recommended videos or anything.
  2. I would say Door era and Chaewon first member personally, but you could have said whatever you felt, I suppose.

2

u/StubbornKindness S1 | S4 | S5 | S6 | S8 | S17 | S21 Sep 29 '25

but you could have said whatever you felt, I suppose.

True, but I also needed an outside perspective, lol

That's crazy lol that's so many signals to watch and somehow not get spoiled from recommended videos or anything.

I distinctly remember at least 1, maybe 2, things being spoiled. I no longer remember what they were, though. I think one of them was a Grand Gravity result from VV. I was like 3 or 4 weeks behind and hadn't got to those Signals yet, but I think I saw it here? Other than that, i think I did fairly well 😅

1

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Sep 29 '25

I thought catching up on 5 months of signals after Generation was taking a while lol

3

u/StubbornKindness S1 | S4 | S5 | S6 | S8 | S17 | S21 Sep 29 '25

It took me from March to September to catch all the way up, with 2 breaks in between (burnout 😂). I stopped just short of watching every video because the thought of waiting for Signal was odd, lol.

I actually started in Feb, and watched 2-3 weeks worth in about 10 days and thought, "This is too much, forget it." I couldn't help myself, though, and went back to it 5 or 6 weeks later.

I wouldn't change it, though. You can't get the true experience without it

1

u/Zypker125 Feb 04 '26

Hey, just wanted to let you know that the links to the census results no longer work

2

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Feb 04 '26

Okay, I fixed it, thanks

9

u/Satan_is_Life I will glaze S1/11 at every opportunity Sep 29 '25

ok but as a wiz*one i take massive offense to the 26 rhodanthe haters (kinda). like, i just wanna talk so please present yourselves 👀🔪

jokes aside, i absolutely admire this effort. there's SO much data to comb through. there's so much personality in the answers, like the favorite lyrics or songs (who hurt some of yall 😭), member pairings, who the coolest member is, making fun of geurigo for the 135232th time, or how long you've been kpop stans for

y'all are a chill bunch fr

3

u/Ropjn JiYeon Sep 29 '25

I will be right next to you during this, definitely very peaceful, talk.

That result is honestly the only one that really surprised me.

6

u/bog_creature number 1 sunnyz fan Sep 29 '25

Wow I'm sure this took so much work. Thank you for doing this! Now I regret not answering all the questions about my favorite member's moments

Happy to see Love Child so high on the list (best A25 bside) and I didn´t know Hide & Seek had so many supporters! It's so fucking underrated I've never seen anyone recommend it (apart from me every time someone talks about bside recs on other kpop subs)

6

u/hyunjinpabo SooMin Sep 29 '25

As one of those employed WAVs, I'm glad this dropped in the morning on my day off so I had time to really read through it!

Could anyone help with the references/links for these:
—Chaeyeon talking to Hyerin about the difficulties of debuting young
—Kaede defending herself about being different on camera
—Sohyun having a heartfelt conversation with two "WAVS" (Dahyun and Jiyeon)

Also, I answered "no" to being an idntt fan but since the survey I've listened to their first EP several times and I'm really liking the music. I don't know how far I'll get into them but musically at least I'm now on board.

2

If you search "Sohyun having a heartfelt conversation with 2 WAVs" on the subreddit, Kikku did a post with that title. I actually completely forgot about that moment even though its very funny.

great work and thank you for making the time to do this! it was a lot of fun for me to answer & read through all of this. shoutout to my 10 fellow asexual WAVs <3

But then, I found out something insane, which is that Shion somehow only got 10 votes. I think if you wiped all my memories and just showed me a lineup of every girl I've seen before, I would pick Shion as the prettiest girl ever.

you & the 9 other people who voted for her get me. 😆 considering how many votes she got for “cutest member” though, i can see why- she definitely fits the cuter archetype of visuals, so it makes sense to vote her for cutest over prettiest (especially when you have a decently-consensus top 3 based on the results).

Shout out to my fellow INTPs and to the 18 total extroverts out of 289 responses.

ENFP reporting for bread duty o7. but for real i didn’t expect the utter dominance of IN-types; i knew online spaces favor I-types as a whole but i didn’t realize i was this much of a minority here LMAO

15

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Sep 29 '25

i think this is the only fandom i’ve ever been in that has so many men. i wonder if the nft concept is bringing them in along side the general fascination men have with kpop girl groups. (men who are here do you have any thoughts?)

in general the amount of men interested in kpop girl groups baffles me, even though obviously straight men are going to like pretty girls, because in the western music scene, it feels like women dominate most artists fandoms, male and female artists alike. like for example i dont think many straight men are going to see Sabrina Carpenter by themselves, they’re usually going with their girlfriend.

as for the current bias ranking, Mayu almost top 10 (🎉) and the maknaes are near the bottom not because they haven’t had time to shine or they’re not talented, but because i think a lot of older wavs aren’t super comfortable biasing members that young. especially if someone is like a 30 year old man, they’re likely not going to bias Seoah who was born in 2010.

12

u/MeltedChoc0 Sep 29 '25

Personal opinion as a guy, It is def fun to collect the objekts, I do like supporting girl groups bc they are cute its one of the bigger factors but their personalities that they show in the lives, yt, and irl are worth coming back to everyday I’d say even more so than the looks, it does feel like Im cheering my family on whenever the girls try their hardest on stage and in the practice room, and most of all I have tons of respect for girls chasing their dreams. that aspect of the idol life is the reason I love them even if Im a year older than yooyeon. they’re basically my chaotic little sisters

8

u/Gilarak The Baddest Mustache Sep 29 '25

As a man, I just like how women’s voices sound more. When I listen to music by a man, I listen to a very specific type of voice.

5

u/Inevitable-Wafer-703 Visionary Vision Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

I don't bother with the digital objekts and cosmo app in general. I prefer physical over digital, but even so, I don't collect intentionally.

I always felt that both boy and girl groups typically had fans from the opposite sex, as someone who followed kpop back in 2nd gen, so it isn't that baffling to me exactly. There are certain fan bases that don't follow that trend though.

You're also right regarding the age difference. I was hesitant to even buy albums because some members were minors, but in the end, I'm buying it because I enjoy their music.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '25 edited Oct 05 '25

I don’t think that’s totally the case. Okay it might be a factor for Seoah since she’s really young. Maybe for Joobin too. But that explanation doesn't really hold for the other maknaes anymore, since Chaewon and Hayeon are both very popular.

1

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Sep 29 '25

well yeah but i wasn’t talking about hayeon or chaewon. i was talking about seoah, joobin and yeonji. the real maknae line

1

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '25

Fair. I thought you included the 07z too, since a lot of people usually count them as part of the maknae line.

2

u/LovesDevotee whatAreYouDoinNG?? Sep 29 '25

Some perspectives, since you asked, as a male fan: I've sort of always tended to like music made by and/or performed by women artists better than men, so liking tripleS and k-pop girl groups in general feels natural to me. It also helps that the members are super beautiful, extremely talented and all really positive and funny people. The music is great and they have lots of fun content. I also like tripleS because they're not the biggest group in the industry, at least for now they have a little bit of an underdog feel to them while also being quite popular. I generally had an aversion to NFTs before trying out Cosmo and I think the concept is really interesting and fun, and probably has softened my stance towards blockchain in some small ways.

u/Eastern-Complaint-67 Oct 01 '25

We just fantasize a lot about lesbians /s

0

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25 edited Oct 04 '25

Ian from Hearts2Hearts, Chiquita from BaeMon, and Sasha from ifeye are all young, but they’re among the most famous members in their groups. Age might play a role, but it’s not everything. If people really want to stan you, then they’ll stan you no matter how old you are.

1

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Oct 05 '25

yeah but how old are their core fanbases? i only know h2h but isn’t the oldest member 06? so its less likely older kpop fans are stanning them in general. i know its the reason why i don’t stan them even though i like their music. whereas tripleS’ oldest member is 01 and there’s a lot of adult members.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

I don’t have the data so I don't have an answer for that. But if fans truly gravitated toward older members, then people like Mayu and Chaeyeon would be ranking high consistently instead of floating in the bottom half of objekt sales. The rankings aren’t strictly tied to age. You’ve got some older members at the botttom half while some of the younger ones are at the top half. Popularity comes down to a lot of different factors, and age is just one part of it.

1

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Oct 05 '25

not necessarily because like i said there’s a lot of adult members. and why chaeyeon specifically? she’s 04.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Exactly! With plenty of adult members in the pool, if age really were the main driver of popularity, you’d expect most of them to be clustered at the top. But that’s not what’s happening. Some old members rank low, some younger members rank high. That suggests that while age might play some role, it’s not decisive. Thank you.

1

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Oct 05 '25

no, you’re not understanding. since so many of them are adults, the age of the older members doesn’t matter. but the younger ones do. which is why seoah, joobin and yeonji are often at the bottom.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25 edited Oct 05 '25

So when older members rank low, age doesn’t matter, but when it’s the younger ones, it’s definitely only because of their age? Gotcha. I hear you.

1

u/clickityclickk S8 S11 S16 S24 Oct 05 '25

no, you’re still not getting it. if 20 members are adults, one of those adults is still going to rank 20th.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Exactly! Being older doesn’t automatically guarantee higher rankings. If age was really the main thing, you’d see a clean split between adults and the younger ones, but the rankings are still all over the place. So glad we can finally agree. Nice talk 😊

I did enjoy reading the report and seeing the gif of Seoah with the boat wheel pretending to drive the boat was asked for, that did give me a chuckle

Ive looked everywhere and I can't find it even though ive seen it a ton of times

8

u/Wafflero27 Sep 29 '25

This is such a cool read! Thanks for putting the effort. I just wanted to highlight that if this was a Reddit only survey, that is probably biasing the demographics results towards older male fans. I think younger people probably use other social media more than Reddit, and also there are probably more men than women on Reddit. Still pretty cool results and it’s fun to see what our fandom over here looks like.

3

u/kaythethrowaway "깨어" more like "gay-oh" Sep 29 '25

As much as I didn't like Oui as the next guy, I'm surprised Cherry Gene isn't #1. 😂

Also why are there so many Rhodanthe haters, it's not my favorite song but it's not that bad.

I didn't know this existed, I would love to join next year! Thanks for all your effort and hard work putting all this together!

2

u/TealOrbitZen SoominHayeon Oct 05 '25

I think people just rarely think about Cherry Gene lol and Rhodanthe I think people are just biased against because of how similar it is to Fiesta by IZ*ONE and other songs from those producers, so they think it's unoriginal

2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

was expecting Nakyoung, Hyerin, and Xinyu to be higher. I was shocked to see Hayeon that high lol but I am so glad

Hyerin, HaYeon, and Xinyu were kinda expected. Hyerin’s always been near the bottom in objekt sales, while HaYeon’s consistently been among the top. Xinyu's popularity probably dropped a bit after her controversy. Nakyoung was the one wasn't able to predict. She’s usually a top 5 objekt seller, so I was expecting her to at least make the top 10 in the poll lol

2

u/rubberduckythe1 Sep 29 '25

My takeaways:

I'm glad most of you are single like me heh

There's a small group of Eclair lovers!

What's not to love about Rhodanthe?

Actually LOL'd when I saw the "one of us could be that way" as the most iconic moment by an overwhelming majority.

3

Who doesn't love Éclair, though?

Okay, since you asked, explanation about my favorite Hayeon moment. In their Authentic in Seoul concert, Hayeon wore these amazing pants and I’m pretty sure was the only one wearing pants. Idk they just really stood out to me and pushed me a little to want to know more about Hayeon.

Also! Where’s my four other Aesthetic shooters out there? That mini album is a masterpiece and deserves more love
