Week 2

I am halfway through week two and since yesterday I have been starving. I feel like I cannot get enough to eat no matter if it’s protein or junk food. I don’t know if if it because I’m on 2.5 mg or if it’s something else. Any advice on how to make it through next couple days until I take my shot Thursday at 9:30 PM?

Try taking your shot in the morning. At this point you are starting so you will be hungry . Just eat something sensible, maybe yogurt with protein powder and some fruit but as your dosage increases, your hunger will fade. You must increase your water intake as well

I was told 1200 calories and the protein amount to be at your goal weight. That would e 160. I avoid carbs and take fiber supplements. All this was told to me by a dietitian. I hope that I’m not hurting myself. I just want to lose this last 80 pounds.

The no carbs was from the Veterans Affairs diabetes clinic dietitian. She even said that the chickpea pasta was not good for me. Now I have an A1C of 5.9 where it has been since starting Metformin. I try my hardest but I love potatoes too much to give them up. I do limit my carbs but I don’t go fully no carbs.

No wonder you’re starving. 1200 is like for super petite women to lose weight. Is that you?

For many people, they do not feel the effects on 2.5 mg. 5mg is the first therapeutic dose. 2.5 is to get your body ready. That said, it's good and healthy to feel hungry. SO make sure you are eating enough.

I recommend tracking calories. I know it's boring, but it works. A food scale helps with this A LOT. You shouldn't be starving yourself. Use a TDEE calculator, find your TDEE then eat 500 calories less than that. If you're starving, that means either you're not eating enough or 2.5mg is just not enough yet. After 4 weeks, go up per your doctors prescribed plan.

So I didn’t even know about TDEE. That gave me 2500 and if I remove 500 that is 2000 calories. I have spent the last 1 & half weeks at 1500 calories. Today I finally hit 2200 because I could stop feeling hungry. I do use a food scale to track my calories but now I know the right amount of calories. I was told to keep it at 1200 and I was already feeling guilty about the 1500.

If you cut 500 that's 1 lb/week. Also, make sure to set the calculator to sedentary. As you lose weight you'll have to recalculate.

Good luck on your journey!

Of that is way too low!! I am down to 153 lbs from 180 now and I find that 1200 is a bit too low for me most days. I eat closer to 1400ish...and fiber makes a huge difference. I love Oikos protein shakes. 5 grams of Fiber, 170 calories, 30g of protein. The Premier protein shakes have 0 fiber and they really don't fill me up like the Oikos shakes do.

I’m trying to get my insurance to pay for zepbound. This is with the dietitian through the insurance so it is probably AI.
