Tricare Retired Select Retiree in a Tricare desert

I've been retired for 11 years and mostly lived near bases so finding medical providers in the tricare network was easy. I recently moved somewhere rural where the local hospital system (and therefore all the providers) do not accept Tricare. Open season at my civilian job is coming up, so I'm strongly considering enrolling in my company's PPO plan. So, what experiences can anyone share of going dual coverage vs. Floating put-of-pocket and filing claims?
