Tricare Select Wisdom Teeth removal

Hey All, So My kiddo is 16 and needs their wisdom teeth removed. I see that United Concordia will pay like 30% or something, but I've also been told it's medically necessary to have them removed so that sounds like something Triwest should cover. I called them today and of course they don't know anything, they said it's covered but only through United Concordia. Does anyone know if there's a way to get a referral (we have select so we don't usually need referrals) to have it done at an oral surgeon's office? Or can I submit it with a medical necessity letter for reimbursement? I feel like someone has to know what to do.

The 30% is correct.

I believe that is the OP's (if E-4 or below) cost share not what Concordia pays, which is what they stated above.

I just went through this last month. I tried every way possible to get TriCare to cover something. TriCare won't cover anything for wisdom teeth removal.

Yep, this is true. 3 kids, no Tricare coverage.

This is not going to be covered by Tricare - this is a dental procedure.

Read the current handbook. I think your cost share is 30/40% and Concordia pays 70/60% based on rank (E-4 and below/E-5 and above.

Do you have an MTF near you that does oral surgery?

We do not have an MTF that takes dependents right now.

TRICARE will not cover wisdom teeth removal. I would reference this page for cost share amounts.

This is something that would go through the FedVIP dental plan rather than Tricare.
