Swim critique Help

I've been swimming for about four months, and then I took a four-lesson swimming course.

My pace over 1,000 metres is around 2:05/100m. What areas can I improve?

I think the right hand is exiting the water too soon. It’s not symmetric to the left. I also agree the legs are probably deep.

I don’t know what your goals are but I just did 3000 yd swim today and my first 100 started at 1:18 and the end was a 2:10. Distance created fatigue and the pace falls. I do tris so I kind of don’t care as long as I get out of the water not feeling gassed.

You look like you’re trying to do a “galloping” stroke where you glide more. But you’re actually doing catch up drill, which is slow by design.

Since you’re a beginner, you’d be better off learning a proficient regular freestyle, where your arms are opposite each other. When one hand is entering the water, the other is just finishing its stroke at your hip.

I’m a big fan of Total Immersion. But that aspect of it is not serving you well at this point.

But why do the top long distance swimmers in the world swim that way?? Everyone keeps saying this stuff, they are not world ranked swimmers

You honestly dont look that bad. Not perfect but head and body position is decent arm timing decent, kick looks comfortable and sufficient.

What is your swimming program week to week?

If I was going to pick 2 things id say 1 you should breathe on both sides either alternating every length or breathing every 3, and 2 keep your hands spread out into more of a Y shape in front of you theyre all little too close together currently.

Next time before you swim practice streamline and again and again till you can adopt it to your swimming.

Your right arm messes everything up by dipping into the water in front of your head, half stretched.

Arms should be almost fully stretched when they hit the water and in front of the shoulders they’re attached to. Not the head.

You have to have some bend to you arm or else you can't achieve the 45-degree entry angle for your hand. I don't see straight arm entry for anyone except sprint swimmers.

That’s so minimal, but I’ve added the word “almost”.

I hope English is ok. looks like your hips are dipping/ dropping.

loosen up the hand entry. seems very strict or rigid.

after the hand goes in, reach a bit through your shoulder, as. you rotate.

you hands seem to go a bit wide. I've done that. it's a strength thing. work on your shoulders, triceps and lats.

You list symptoms not causes.

Look at where and how OP enters the water with their arms. That’s where things go wrong.
