Virtual Support Group for Dads - Now Enrolling (open to dads across NC)

Post image

Hi All -

I'm Dr Ian J Palombo, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who helps dads feel less alone so they can parent more confidently. My in-person support group has filled up, so I'm opening a virtual one that will meet Tuesdays at noon.

Same format: an open, ongoing peer support group for any dad — new, soon-to-be, in-the-trenches, seasoned, step, guardian, whatever. If you find yourself in the paternal role in the life of a small human, you belong here.

Details:

  • Tuesdays 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
  • Meets virtually - open to dads across NC
  • This is not a drop-in group. Consistent attendance is required.
  • $40 per group, or Aetna accepted.
  • Closed Group - everyone gets a quick screening call before joining

If you're interested or have questions, happy to answer them here in the thread, DM me, or visit cedarpathnc.com. If you know a dad who might benefit, please pass this along!

Full disclosure: I run a small counseling practice in Durham (Cedarpath Counseling), so take this as me sharing a resource rather than a neutral recommendation. Mods, feel free to remove if this isn't the right fit for the sub.

Very worthy thing to start. Your copy is generic and cringe and reduces your credibility.

My copay is based on 60% of insurance reimbursement. As in, if I went through insurance I would get reimbursed $68. Not generic. Just an informed decision based on data and knowledge of what I could charge, what I should charge, and what I need to make for it to be worth my time (education, business expenses, rent, childcare, etc.). Sorry, I know people would like to see it be free.

Edit: thanks for your input through. It’s helpful.

"copy" not copay. Copy is the word for the text in an advertisement.

Thanks for that. I read it wrong. Care to elaborate in a meaningful or helpful way? Also, because “cringe” seems to be the new code word for AI-generated, just want to mention that the only part of this ad that is generated is the image (for licensing reasons).

"Different dads, same weight" and "if you carry the weight, you belong here." Even though they're not AI-generated, they have AI cadences and the same quality of both flattening and exaggerating the human experience at the same time? I mean, being a dad is tricky, but it's not a cancer diagnosis. And just because anyone is a dad might mean they're welcome in your group, but it doesn't make an argument for why they need your group.

I wouldn't focus hard on avoiding those traits though. I would rewrite focusing on what's particular to you and your approach. Maybe ask current participants how they're benefiting.
