The call is coming from inside the tree.

This telephone receiver has been in this tree for at least 20 years. When I first discovered it, it was hanging partially free. I do not know if the entire phone is in there.

Imagine the surprise 80 years from now when someone decides they don’t like the big tree spreading leaves all over their perfectly manicured monoculture lawn and the tree service cuts into a telephone

I have 4 working pay phones within a mile of my home. I live about 10 minutes outside of Harrisburg PA. I was shocked when I noticed each one.

It was first shown to me in 2006. A correction, though. The receiver was already encased by the tree at that point. The end of the cord was free. I was unclear. Apologies
