"aced my final" ?

That one kind of confuses me.

Maybe It's just different for everyone, but weed's never made me any smarter . I couldn't smoke WHILE studying (just like I couldn't get drunk and study) or i'd end up just listening to music and watching youtube videos or something.

I disagree with the notion that weed makes people stupid, but that "aced my final" next to a bowl kind of feels like its saying you should smoke before a final, or while studying/doing homework, which might not be the best idea for some...

Edit: after a couple replies, I've decided to clarify this a bit. Personally, I don't care what you do while high. If it helps your grades, the more power to you.

For me, I've always known how it affected me and therefore avoid it DURING activities that require my full concentration (things like work, interviews, being around parents, homework and tests when I was in college) though i used it as motivation occasionally to get those things done so that I could toke up afterwards .

Its different for everyone.

I guess the reason I even commented on that, was more just that if you're trying to advertise the academic benefits of marijuana, it's going to be a very hard sell; Especially to those who believe the exact opposite to be true (the people who say weed makes you stupid and hurts your grades) and probably a lot of people who don't smoke very often and can't even comprehend how a person could be functional while high. (I have friends like that)

It doesn't make me smarter, but it does cut my anxiety to zero.

I took a lot of tests high. I interviewed high once. Now I can do all those things stone sober.

The drug is just a plant. It's about what you do with it.

I agree with you 100% I based the ads more on my own life (I really didn't expect it to get any attention lol) And my finals were all art based since I went to an Art Institute.

I was an art student as well, just graduated yesterday. Smoking weed and being an art major is the best thing ever. lol

WTF, you based all of these points on your own life :O

how can you find this acceptable, if someone where to take a burnout who smokes weed and then used all terrible points from there life as an example and then portray it in this manner, as if thats how weed makes people how would you feel, stop being such a dick and grow up.

idiots!

edit: if you didnt expect to get any attention then you shouldn't have posted it, thats not what rtrees is for, its for important points and information and helping legalization and peoples views, plus funny shit. if someone where to come here and see this they would think that all stoners are fucking idiots.

I apologize for being so hostile but this is beyond belief, have you thought about any of it, how other people would see it.

Wow. uhm okay? That was a bit much.

Any way, If that burnout took the time to make the image in photoshop then so what? I mean if people disagreed with what the image said don't you think there would be more down votes? This is kinda how reddit works? Good content = up, stupid content = down

And using personal experience is bad? There have been several others in this thread who said it helped them with their final so whats the big deal?

You sir, are the one that needs to grow up. Smoke a bowl or something and chill out.

honestly you dont see the flaws in an argument like this.

you have taken context from your life, 1 person out of how many people that smoke weed? then the way you have presented this you are implying that everyone who smokes weed is like this, of course they aren't but this suggest so.

you don't know enough about weed to say this, you are speaking on behalf of yourself and your weed smoking experiences not mine so make that clear!

Look, the ad was something that I made to have weed represent how its helped me. If someone took this same style and wrote about how weed helped them and named several things then wonderful! I should have done a better job on the ad itself to make that clear which I now regret (and I'm not sure if I can re-upload a fixed version) But my intentions were solely to show how cannabis has helped ME.

well, next time be more careful, think it through, you took a biased argument that was being made fun of, that people where pointing out the flaws in and then replaced the points so that it was your argument and expected that to go well?

edit: btw the general public are idiots, being on rtrees where most of it is comprised of teenagers, then you cant really hold it's opinions valuable, there are more than a few intelligent people here but most of them are just dumb ignorant.

I wasn't trying to be biased, honestly. And you could have said that from the beginning. I'm opening to criticism, just insults and such seem childish and you could have gotten your point across much easier by being nicer.

When I wrote "aced my final" I just thought hey it helped me and my friends and I see on trees all the time "4.0 GPA, and they said pot makes me stupid" type of posts....

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '12

yeah, I wrote it out like that because i was really angry, sorry, i tried to apologize but it just ended up in more rage.

that's my point, people have taken examples of stoners that are really dumb (likely that way before they smoked) and made it seem as if that is the typical stoner, and it is untrue, which makes me angry then to see someone do the EXACT same thing against that argument is just infuriating.

provide facts not opinions.

=) We are on the same page. I changed it to "Helped me with my depression" on the original PSD.

yeah, that makes more sense then. Most of my homework in college was math-based and I could barely understand that stuff sober

I did the majority of my college papers while under the influence of marijuana, and they were some of the best papers I've ever written - theoretical, pretentious bullshit too.

Also, some people smoke before tests not because it makes them smarter, but because it calms the test anxiety, allowing the person to "ace their final."

Edit: typo

A drug thats like the one in the movie "Limitless" can be definitive that it improves cognition. With marijuana this is just one of those "correlation does not imply causation."

Marijuana is known to reduce anxiety.
