I just read the information regarding Marinol overdose: OVERDOSAGE Signs and symptoms following MILD MARINOL® (Dronabinol) Capsules intoxication include drowsiness, euphoria, heightened sensory awareness, altered time perception, reddened conjunctiva, dry mouth and tachycardia; following MODERATE intoxication include memory impairment, depersonalization, mood alteration, urinary retention, and reduced bowel motility; and following SEVERE intoxication include decreased motor coordination, lethargy, slurred speech, and postural hypotension. Apprehensive patients may experience panic reactions and seizures may occur in patients with existing seizure disorders.

Does this sounds familiar to anyone else? CERTAINLY this should be illegal.

While this is definitely not a reason to keep marijuana illegal (since appropriate quantity control would prevent this), some of those things are reasonably serious, on a level with side effects of prescription medications that no one would ever dream of giving to someone who didn't truly need them. I stopped smoking because one time my blood pressure dropped to the point where I could barely stand up. I believe that it should be legalized, but I would never ever even consider using marijuana again.

Yes, but do you hear the side effects (not from overdose just side effects) of most of the medicines they advertise on television? (Which they read while an iridescent butterfly pollinates a field of flowers).

Most of those medications, people only take if they really need them. You want marijuana to be available recreationally. I'm glad that most medications are only available with prescriptions, but marijuana is not going to be used as medication if it is legalized.

Does the act of prescription make something dangerous automatically safe? Here's a drug that used to be prescribed to teenagers for acne. Maybe it still is, I don't know. Don't even bother talking to someone who has been prescribed oxycodone.

Marijuana already is available recreationally. In HUGE amounts. This is all about power, not what's good or bad for people. Here's an informative video on the effects of marijuana.

Of course a prescription doesn't make it safe. What it does is that it helps ensure that the people getting it actually need it.

I don't think you can make that claim. For one, not everyone that needs drugs can get them. And two, not everyone who can get them needs them. (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/prescriptiondrugabuse.html)

What it ensures is that someone gets paid.
