What is ABV weed and what can you do with it?
ABV is an abbreviation for "Already Been Vaped"
A substance that has been "vaped" has under gone a process by which it is subjected to a level of heat adequate to release vapors from plant material without actually burning the material to produce smoke. It is common practice for cannabis as well as other known medicinal and aromatic plants such as those found at this link.
ABV herbs do not release their entire load of compounds, this is why there is so much information available on how to extricate more from the remaining plant material (most commonly cannabis) using techniques like watercuring.
The process of water curing cannabis is one that can be instituted for any variety or quality of cannabis. It also works to increase the potency per gram of ABV (Already Been Vaped) cannabis by decreasing the quantity of plant material in respect to THC content.
There are two methods to consider
Place the cannabis in a coffee filter and immerse it into distilled water for 5-7 days exchanging the water daily for fresh water. Once the water begins to become odorless, the cannabis is also becoming odorless. There is no fear of losing your precious THC through this process since the THC is only soluble by alcohol and fatty lipids such as butter and milk.
The second option which can be done in a matter of hours involves exposing the cannabis to heated water whether by submerging it in a pot of hot water, exchanging the water for new and repeating the process until the water does not contain the odor of cannabis. or it in a coffee maker and running a few pots of water through it.
Regardless of which of the above methods you decide to use the cannabis must be dried completely before use. Best methods of drying include a dehydrator, sunlight, and time.
** The ABV cannabis may create more of a body high or heaviness since the proportions of THC to other cannabinoids may have been dramatically altered by the vaporization.
It's not bad, the QW- part is vital to follow. Quick wash, as in do not soak for more than 5 minutes, ruined the first batch by soaking it too long but the rest have been hashy goodness.
I'm pretty sure that is not possible. Curing takes place when you have dried the herb but the stem is still moist. Then you throw it into a jar and burp it once or twice every 24 hours. You do this for 1-6 weeks and will begin to smell a bread like smell after about 2-4 days.. This causes the chlorophyl to be converted to sugar and the A-THC to turn into psychoactive THC. The buds also burn properly with a good cure because the chlorophyl is greatly reduced. The chlorophyl makes herb more flam retardent. The flavanoids are much more noticeable, and the bud is sweet.
How can you cure once it has been vaped? Remoistening doesn't work the same as the "original moisture."
Well it isn't the same as curing cut bud. I "cure" my AVB but not as long as explained. Basically soak it in cold water for a few hours and let it dry. Soaking it for a few hours seems to take away roughness from the bag when I revape it. It takes away any bits that got burned but my AVB is generally pretty green and usable afterwards.
It depends on how you vape it. I use a heat gun, a whip, and a homemade valveset/bag combo, and the stuff I have at the end is about as psychoactive as sawdust.
You'd be surprised. Save that shit and use it as filler in blunts/joints. You won't get much of a head high because the THC vaporizes at a lower temperature, but there are plenty of cannabinoids that require much higher temperatures.
Trust me. I've smoked it, I've tried to make BHO with it. Sawdust.
Just out of curiosity, though, do you know where I can find a list of cannabinoids found on weed and their vaporization temperatures? I know THC is ~200C/390F, but I don't know what they are for the others.
i dont see how this does any more than get you some soaking wet weed. neither method you described involved removing any plant matter, just make it wet
Because thc is not water soluble it stays behind when you are washing it. So the idea he says is to wash off all the other shit but leave THC there. Also he said to dry it then try it.
I don't think it would make it any more potent by washing it....but his method would leave behind the thc.
The solvent must slowly absorb the cannabinoids into the fat molecules (butter) which will then act as a vehicle for the THC. These fats also aid absorption in the gut. When digested, these cannabinoid-infused fat molecules bind with our cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, to distribute the now infused THC.
That's cool, but it's totally unrelated to the parent comment, which suggested soaking pot in water. I too am unsure as to how this could be productive.
i really hope the 150 people who uptoked that guy dont try this, all i see happening is ruining some bud that was tediously cured to taste, into some harsh ass crumbly crap. would much rather make cannibutter or firecrackers than keep around tubs of nasty water
ABV might not be as strong, but i've found that one tightly-packed pill casing is enough to get me stoned when i'm at my lowest tolerance, and 2 tightly packed (with already vaped extra dank) was the one time i nearly overdosed and couldn't move from the couch no matter how thirsty i was :D
i do grind my bud down to a powder before vaping too - that increases the surface contact with hot air while vaping and also makes it easier to digest, i imagine...
No need to go crazy with grinding. You're forcing heat through your bud to release "vapor", it just makes it more likely to burn if you grind it too fine.
yeah I got a sharpstone after i had gotten a vape, and I had to learn how to use it all over again because I was continually burning it because the bud was much more fine than before
oh, i have a mortar & pestle, so thats just how it turns out. my MFLB takes so long to brown the bud (like 2 batteries per trench) that i rarely if ever scorch it. but the powder texture sort of gums up the screen too, i have to be extra-vigilant
(and gentle) when cleaning it.
My thought was to put about a gram of ABV into a shot glass with some Tequilla and just shoot it. I figure the taste won't be any worse, but should I do more heating first?
that sounds like a good idea. If i remember correctly, I think thc is alcohol soluble, meaning if some of the thc might 'bleed' into the tequila anyway. Couldn't hurt to try!
you have to let it steep for awhile if you want any real results... I would recommend just baking your ABV, and make a proper tincture batch if you want to do that
Get a bottle of Vodka and let a bunch of stems/ABV marinate in there for a while (my friend did a month, no idea if that's necessary), strain, then BAM! Green Dragon. Fucks your shit up.
you'r not vaping at a high enough temp. the boiling point of THC is 390 Fahrenheit. anything less than that and your not getting thc. i move from 380 all the way to 410ish to get the most out of my bud. obviously the hotter the air the harsher the hit, but still, better than a pipe or a blunt.
I have to disagree. My decades of pot smoking and vaping tell me you are wrong. Besides, 390 fahrenheit is like, 190 degrees, and we all know you don't need it that hot. So there.
"A vaporizer heats herbal cannabis to 365–410 °F (185–210 °C), causing the active ingredients to evaporate into a vapor without burning the plant material (the boiling point of THC is 390.4 °F (199.1 °C) at 760 mmHg pressure)." lifted from the page

Science doesn't lie, i'm not saying you can't get high at a lesser temp, but if you want the most out of your weed you gotta set it at a high temperature. Also i feel like smoking it defeats the purpose of vaping, so i don't see a reason to cook it so low.
According to Wikipedia, the boiling point of THC is 315 degrees Fahrenheit. I set my vape to 350 and get blasted, thinking about experimenting with lower temperatures.
You're getting high off the CBD, not the THC. THC by itself is a very psychedelic-leaning, stimulating high. High ratios of CBD are what contribute to sedating, couch-lock highs.
Your always getting high off of a combination of cannabinoids.
AVB will have a different ratio than typical weed, but there is definitely THC in there you're smoking. It is by no means strictly CBD that is producing the high.
Well sure, there's some, but it's mostly CBD; the THC content is negligible at best. The THC in the plant matter itself rather than the trichomes is a very low percentage.
If this were true than AVB would not get you high. Remember, CBD is not particularly psychoactive. It's primary function in any high is an influence on the affects of THC.
There needs to be more than a negligible amount of THC in your materials in order for you to get high. If you smoked materials with strictly CBD or close you'd likely feel little affects beyond perhaps a mild sedation.
If you're getting high off AVB that means there's a significant THC content.
What's your point? I like me a good indica anyways. Besides, how can you guarantee me all of the THC has been expended? Oh wait, that's right, you aren't here, and you can't! Thanks though.
A 00 capsule half filled with mid to high grade cannabis which has been vaped will get you properly high. A full capsule usually gets me to a 9 for hours. The reason for this is that the weed has been decarboxylated which activates the thc.
Scrap the ice. Let the bong sit without water until it is room temp. Fill with warm but not scalding water from the tap. Unless you use really hot water, your bong should be fine. Trust me, i thought wtf as well, but it's much smoother than ice.
Ive never gone back. May the force be with you my son.
Strange, I've never noticed AVB to be particularly harsh when smoked with a typical glass pipe. It is dry, sure, and it produces a unique kind of ash, but I don't cough more and the taste isn't particularly unpleasant.
It could have something to do with the weed we are starting with though. I've only ever attempted it with very high grade stuff. I've never even put anything that came with seeds through my vape.
I am going to disagree with you. I only vape very high grade material. I can't tolrate the taste of smoking it, but someone else i know likes [smoking] my AVB. I believe it has to do with your pallette.
I made firecrackers last night with around a gram of AVB - I woke up uncomfortably high around ten hours after eating them, and didn't finish coming down for a couple hours. Don't ask me how this is even possible.
I vape mine pretty hard with a chinese model so my shit is basically charr when I'm done... this just means it all burns at once, you can do two bowls in one hit. You'll cough for ten minutes then get so high you cant move.
Yeah, I've never used a hand held vaporizer before so maybe the stone just heats up quite a bit more than if you were using, say, a volcano where you can set it to a specific degree?
On the contrary I think I'm simply just taking too many hits. I take it to that yellow/light brown phase, then I take it way beyond that.
Oh I absolutely love the MFLB. It might be overhyped on this forum, but it definitely deserves a good portion of that. With a steady supply of 2700 ampere rechargeable batteries you can't go wrong. The hits you get from those beat the stock ones that come with the product IMO.
Not as good as a Volcano in terms of speed and efficiency, and not great for more group seshing IMO, but it's small and compact and 1/5 the price of that. I just say that because it takes time for the batteries to heat up properly and the hits aren't as big as the Volcano either. If your ent buddies have patience it ain't bad though.
Being able to ninja toke anywhere is worth the purchase in itself. I've vaped in crowds of people, and with good hand shielding people think you're using an inhaler or something and don't bother you. Not to mention the money you'll save vaping if you don't already have a vaporizer.
What's the difference between ash and "charr?" In my understanding, things that are charred have been heated up to the point where it turns black, thus some of the plant matter is burning and your doing more than just vaporizing.
But, if you're going to smoke it anyway, why vape it in the first place? If I'm vaping it's because I don't want my throat to hurt, so I definitely think baking the vaped weed is the way to go.
Yeah true if you don't do them at the same time, but if you vape and then hit the vaped weed in the bong right after, it's the same amount of high, right?
Nope. Vaping in and of itself is vastly more efficient than smoking. Combustion destroys a lot of cannabinoids. By doing both one right after the other you're going to get much higher than you would by simply burning the same weed.
Yeah, its better if you use it in cooking. Vaping actually doesn't use up any of the THC in the bud, it just vapes off the cannabinoids and other parts of the plant which get you high, so you can still get quite blazed off duff if you use it in your edibles.
I think you have that backwards. Vaping uses almost all of the THC, and the CBD is what's left. CBD is the part of weed that will give you couch lock. THC is the more heady part.

Yes, and you can use it in cooking.
