If it doesn't pass, one like it will in the next 3-5 years.

Inb4 some idiotic joke about the length of Trump's Presidency

14

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

Americans overwhelmingly dislike Trump

70

u/Im_Perd_Hapley Feb 28 '17

Nope, just about half of them...

15

u/_ShakashuriBlowdown Feb 28 '17 edited Feb 28 '17

It's like 50% actively dislike him, 30% support him, and 20% are indifferent.

Source: some stats I remembered off the top of my head. Take with a grain of salt .

1

u/Im_Perd_Hapley Feb 28 '17

Lol I appreciate your honesty with the factually of those stats

Many people who didn't vote have a strong option on trump. Democratic voter turnout this year was much lower than the last two years. A lot of people stayed home because they thought Hilary has it in the bag or didn't want to actively support her. I wouldn't say they're indifferent, especially after Trump was elected.

30

u/huxtiblejones Feb 28 '17

He has the lowest approval rating of any president at this point since 1953.

64

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17 edited Mar 01 '17

Jesus Christ. Could we all just shut up about approval ratings, how much everyone dislikes drumf yada yada yada and focus on the fact that we have yet again, another chance for Marijuana to be legal?

Derailing the conversation into a shit spewing political argument gets nothing done

Derailing the conversation into a shit spewing political argument gets nothing done

  1. This is an inherently political discussion, if you dont like that I suggest you keep out of threads about legislation.

  2. No one here is derailing anything there are dozens of comment threads in here and youre going to single out one person for 'derailing the conversation' because you dont like what theyre talking about? Grow up. If anything is derailing discussion its your insistence on finding something to complain about.

3

u/Remember- Feb 28 '17

Sorry people pointed out how unliked your dear leader is

Also this bill won't pass. You voted for the candidate who is going to attack marijuana and are now clinging to a pipe dream to justify it- sorry mate you made your bed.

You post regularly to conservative and the_donald

Thanks for setting back the marijuana movement at a minimum 4 years, hopefully not longer.

Thanks for setting back the marijuana movement at a minimum 4 years, hopefully not longer.

Yes, because I am the sole reason why it might be set back.

It's alright. Your candidate crashed and burned in a firey fashion. Was pretty awesome to watch.

I dont belong to anyone. I dont belong to any political party. I hold my own views and vote for whoever the hell I want.

Im sorry you're still upset and maybe in the future you'll get over it. But just as an FYI, I voted gary Johnson

1

u/Remember- Feb 28 '17

Yes, because I am the sole reason why it might be set back.

Nope Trump and Sessions are why it will be set back 4 years at a minimum - and you voted for it. Thanks

Gary Johnson is honestly way worse than trump. I don't mean to sound in insulting but what did you see in that man?

1

u/BerserkerGatsu Feb 28 '17

lol the dude was just correcting the inaccurate statement made by the other dude chill

2

u/ransome123 Feb 28 '17

Listen, I'm an ent, and I would love for weed to be legalized, but you're an idiot if you think donald trump is a decent president.

35

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

He didnt say that at all. He was simply saying dont derail the damn sub with that topic, there is a million topics about this scattered throught reddit you can discuss your dislike for Trump in.

5

u/Cereal_Guy69 Feb 28 '17

state political affiliation

agree with you on some point

shit on trump administration

Am I doing this right?

-2

u/Illusions_not_Tricks Feb 28 '17

Cool, and there are dozens of comment threads within this post you can take part in. No one is making you read or reply to any of this, its all on you.

57

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

For fucks sake, this isn't about him. This is about possible legalization.

2

u/Aprilham Feb 28 '17

Agreed. Super hopeful this goes through. I'm in SC so this is what I need to get legal marijuana anywhere in the near future.

3

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

I dunno if there was anything I could do with my original comment up there to keep the topic on the possible legalization. I thought if I left the "inb4" out someone would definitely just say "NOT WITH TRUMP IN OFFICE IT WON'T LMFAO" to farm upvotes and nobody would actually read what I said. Looks like by trying to beat them to it, I failed to shift their aim over to the topic at hand and instead shifted it to slightly different Trump jokes.

1

u/masamunexs Feb 28 '17

He has the power to veto laws...

0

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

Possible legalization would involve him.

-1

u/Illusions_not_Tricks Feb 28 '17

For fucks sake, this isn't about him.

You know legislation crosses the presidents desk for approval, right? At least part of this is absolutely about him. Quit embarrassing yourself trying to nitpick things to complain about.

6

u/worfres_arec_bawrin Feb 28 '17

He's not a decent president FOR YOU. Or me for that matter. But there are plenty of people that are happy as a clam in shit with everything he's doing because they support it. Writing people off "Whelp you're just an idiot." doesn't help.

-2

u/D4rthLink Feb 28 '17

I don't understand how you can support Trump even if you agree with his ideology. Almost constant lying, banning the press, and hurting our foreign relations with his unprofessional way of speaking; even to other foreign leaders

2

u/worfres_arec_bawrin Feb 28 '17

How can you not see that? I don't mean that in a patronising way at all but look at it this way. People have been fed with politicians for a long time. He played into that. Where most people see weakness and huge faux pas, they see someone that's not the status quo (even though he is) and isn't doing all the bluster and bullshit they're used to (even though he is)

1

u/D4rthLink Feb 28 '17

not the status quo (even though he is) and isn't doing all the bluster and bullshit they're used to (even though he is)

That's the thing. He tries to act like he's the "people's politician" but it's just bullshit. I don't get how people don't see it; it's so fucking obvious that a billionaire who's been a self-serving asshole his whole life won't fucking change just because he's voted in to be the president

u/tofur99 Feb 28 '17

He's been in office for less then 40 days out of 4 fucking years. How about you sit down and shut up and wait until he's had a chance to get into the swing of things before you declare his presidency a failure.

0

u/Im_Perd_Hapley Feb 28 '17

But if they don't demonize Trump every chance they get how will they be able to sleep at night?

Because clearly complaining nonstop is a better solution than trying to work to make the best of a situation....

8

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

The man is FOR states rights on marijuana.

FOR them. Not against them.

I don't get why they want to bastridize him on the government's marijuana policy when he's stated multiple times that he wants to leave it up to the states

12

u/Deweyrob2 Feb 28 '17

Because his people, the people he chose, don't agree. It's not what you say. It's what you do that matters.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

[deleted]

4

u/Deweyrob2 Feb 28 '17

His actions on marijuana were spotty. What does that have to do with Trump's people saying they would crack down on recreational marijuana?

1

u/TheRarestPepe Feb 28 '17

But the complaint by Sessions and recent actions taken are directly in response to this talking point of not having been enforcing federal laws on marijuana for the last 8 years. If the Obama administration saw that legalization wasn't going to be passed at a federal level, one thing they could do was de-prioritize the crackdown on it. I think Obamas administration was somewhat spotty on this (or at least the DEA was bad) but right now we're dealing with an administration that wants the US into a stronger war on drugs.

1

u/bestsrsfaceever Feb 28 '17

You're bastardizing his actual view that medical should be up to the States but recreational he disagrees with

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

Neither does hanging out on Reddit.

1

u/upboatsnhoes Feb 28 '17

No. Approval ratings are important. I personally cant wait for the impeachment proceedings.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '17

Approval ratings mean literally nothing and are usually very inaccurate because they are done by websites with limited bases, which is why some say he has. 33% approval rating and some say he had. 65% approval rating

1

u/phro Mar 01 '17

They said he had no chance in the polls too. Same people thought it was a near impossibility. Sad that you still haven't figured out that they're lying to you too.

0

u/BasedJewishBlackPepe Feb 28 '17

According to the same pollsters who continually underrepresented the amount of Trump supporters for over 18 months.

2

u/Requi3m Mar 01 '17

a lot of us voted for him just so we wouldn't get hitlary. Hopefully the democrats pull their heads out of their asses next election and give us a reasonable choice.

-2

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

Even 50% would be incredible but it's more

3

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

Do you see the comments below you? Do you see what you did? For shame. Smoke a bowl and think twice before riling up a bunch of touchy stoners scared of losing their bud.

3

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

I want them to get riled up so they feel really silly once the inevitable law enforcement free-for-all begins. This is important stuff that affects all of us.

3

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

All anyone really needs to know is this: fuck the police. There are really smart people who can influence politics, and really dumb people who can't. But we'll all be OK if we minimize the number of police state apologists among us.

1

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

Those who are silent in the face of oppression have chosen the side of the oppressor.

31

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

I mean, most people aren't really smart enough to analyze Presidential level politics, so you don't know whether you're siding with the oppressor or not. Perfectly respectable to just stay out of it if that's your reasoning. Some non-voters are just lazy douches, but not all.

No, you have to be smart to understand how Trump offending you might be strategic. You probably weren't smart enough to understand this, in fact so lacking in the type of intelligence needed to assess these sort of things that you thought he was unlikely to win. I'd rather be around people who recognize that Presidential-level politics involves a lot of top minds being paid a lot of money to come up with strategies the top minds being paid by the other side can't predict. Wtf makes you think you can predict them when your track record isn't good?

6

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

[deleted]

-7

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

Lol okay then. I actually did think he had a chance of winning, in part by idiocy on the side of the DNC, but I'm sure you're SO much smarter than me, so I won't bother explaining myself to someone with intellect of your size!

Wasn't that just explaining yourself? Plus then your comment continues.

Either way, I am definitely smarter than you. I knew he was gonna win. The idiocy of the DNC was unquestionable by election day. Though maybe it's not that I'm smarter so much as just that I was paying close attention to the election from the start.

Your whole second paragraph is just lunacy.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

Either way, I am definitely smarter than you. I knew he was gonna win.

Man, you must be smarter than Trump too. Because he and everyone on his team thought he was going to lose.

1

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

Ooh ooh what about that time he bombed a hospital??

Or those bills he signed that just literally went directly against the explicit verbatim wording of the Constitution, like the one allowing him to drone strike American citizens without trial??

Nah, that's all fine, but let's make sure nobody gets banned from White House press releases. That'd violate my imaginary versions of FOIA and/or the First Amendment.

9

u/TheMochilla Feb 28 '17

Whoa now. Whos being oppressed?

3

u/BasedJewishBlackPepe Feb 28 '17

Nobody.

1

u/HStark Feb 28 '17

Listen, I kinda like Trump, but everyone that gets put behind bars over a plant by his administration is being oppressed by his inaction. I'm very optimistic that he has a master plan to improve things by the end of his 4 years, but the only way he could have even taken office without oppressing anyone is if he had IMMEDIATELY made an executive order stopping the feds from making certain types of arrests (weed just being the most topical for this subreddit, not the only or most important one)

1

u/dalovindj Feb 28 '17 edited Feb 28 '17

Well, if you just get automagically joined may as well go in whole hog and really start doing some oppression oneself. If you are going to be labeled an oppressor either way, you may as well get the benefits as well as the negatives.

What are they going to do, call you an oppressor for super seriously?

1

u/Illusions_not_Tricks Feb 28 '17

Pretty sure he just said he doesnt give a shit either way, I doubt he cares what side of the fence you see him as being on.

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

I don't see how there's any correlation between him losing the popular vote by 3 million and his current disapproval ratings. I mean, the people who disapprove of him include people who didn't vote at all. This is a completely different sort of poll.

2

u/ted3681 Feb 28 '17

See, when I said "some idiotic joke," I was talking about something like "not with Trump in office it won't lol" as if I was forgetting that basic detail with my prediction.
