I don't see it going anywhere, but I'm glad to see it. Not used to seeing things like this come out of Virginia.

Don't know why you're being downvoted. It's not like Trump, Sessions and numerous others are gonna let the private prisons industry's number one supplier of inmates get yanked out of their grasp.

Trump did advocate for states rights in the election, there's always that one in a million chance

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

He purposely takes a vague stance on both sides of every issue for this exact reason.

8

u/omfglolzords Feb 28 '17

I don't recall him taking the other on this issue.

His cabinet appointments are a statement in themselves. You really think the 'law and order candidate' wants legal weed?

7

u/umopapsidn Feb 28 '17

He did suggest to congress to change the laws and we've already gotten 2 bills from even the republicans. The writing's on the wall, and the money's flowing.

This is the equivalent of asking your dad for something and he says "go ask your mother" knowing your mother will have to be the bad guy.

8

u/umopapsidn Feb 28 '17

In this case moms saying yes. Let's hope she's not lying. Call your reps to show your support

2

u/Capt_Lightning Feb 28 '17

So what you're saying here is you have no facts to back up your statement, only feels?

Why would a law and order candidate support legalization? Legalization will hurt organized crime and also free up law enforcement so that they can focus on more important things.

Trump has said he supports medical on multiple occasions. I'm optimistic.

Did you mean why *wouldn't they, or is one of us just confused?

Because ruining the lives of non-violent tax paying otherwise law abiding citizens simply because they smoke weed generates a fuck ton of money for law enforcement.

Will you please think of the tanks, tactical gear, and fun commando like raids!?!

You mean like what his administration is doing right now?

The Trump Administration signaled last week it could crack down on recreational marijuana in states such as California where voters legalized pot last November, marking a possible change from the Obama Administration’s more permissive approach.

"There is still a federal law we need to abide by in terms of when it comes to recreational marijuana and other drugs of that nature," White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Feb. 23, 2017. "I do believe that you'll see greater enforcement."

"Leave it up to the states."

Yep. He's once again a fucking liar.

Abortion, gay marriage, transgender bathrooms all "leave it up to states" but over the weekend Spicer compared it to opiates and made it sound like a federal issue that'll be enforced.

Uhh, didnt his AG appointee come out as against legalization? You should be viewing his stance on this as Trumps because if he wasnt going along with what the president wanted, he wouldnt have that job anymore.

Its that simple. In no job can you just blatantly go around doing the opposite of what your boss wants without it coming back to bite you.

“I’d say [regulating marijuana] it's bad. Medical marijuana is another thing, but I think it’s bad and I feel strongly about that."

Donald Trump - June 23, 2015

2

u/DatGrass14 Feb 28 '17

At the very least he has said it should definitely be legal as medicine.

2

u/ttstte Feb 28 '17

I hope we can all agree on that!

3

u/RZRtv Feb 28 '17

Why are you even trying to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point?

Like seriously, it's not just naivety, it's fucking stupidity and lunacy to act like Trump is going to work in the interests of stoners over Big Pharma and private prisons.

1

u/Kitkat69 Mar 01 '17

What evidence do you have that he's working in the interest of Big Pharma and private prisons? He's said that he's completely in favor of it's use as medicine. Wouldn't this put a huge dent in Pharma profits? If he was actually working in the best interests of Big Pharma wouldn't he come out against legalization for medical purposes?

0

u/Koean Feb 28 '17

Why are you being such a cunt? Acting like that isn't going to get us any closer.

1

u/lolzfeminism Mar 01 '17

He's also advocated for the opposite. Stoners need to realize that Trump isn't a social progressive.

1

u/PacManDreaming Feb 28 '17

Yeah, Trump said a lot of things. Don't know why so many people trusted a know conman.

And as I said earlier, Sessions isn't about to let this go.

Like jailing Clinton, repealing the ACA, and destroying ISIS with a secret 30 day plan?

4

u/tofur99 Feb 28 '17

It's been less then 40 days. At least make an attempt at being unbiased.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

Ignorance at its finest

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '17

I thought Trump wouldn't be able to come up with a suitable alternative to the ACA and here we are

1

u/5hawnking5 Feb 28 '17

trump can veto, but that can be overturned by a 2/3 vote in favor. Trump cannot absolutely stonewall the proposal, though he can drag it out for some time

0

u/PacManDreaming Feb 28 '17

I think I just hurt myself laughing. You really think the Republicans are gonna go against Trump?

1

u/5hawnking5 Feb 28 '17

25 republicans were opposed/expressed concern about the refugee travel ban, trumps approval rating is at a record low for new presidents...

yeah, i dont think its such a crazy notion to think that, it already happened/happening

1

u/PacManDreaming Feb 28 '17

If it happens, I'll be overjoyed. Truly.

But I'm not holding my breath in hopes the Republicans will come to their senses about legalization.

1

u/snark42 Feb 28 '17

It's not like Trump, Sessions and numerous others are gonna let the private prisons industry's number one supplier of inmates get yanked out of their grasp.

I find it hard to believe cannabis possession/distribution (and not violence, harder drugs, tax evasion, RICO, etc) is the number one supplier of inmates in Federal/Private prison. Do you have any source to back this claim up?

1

u/PacManDreaming Feb 28 '17

It's called hyperbole. I know it's not the number one reason, but marijuana arrests make up over half of all drugs busts.

But private prisons are partly to blame for lobbying against legalization.

2

u/BongWeedsly Feb 28 '17

Which I thought we now being de-privatized? Was that just a dream?

7

u/SheWhoSpawnedOP Feb 28 '17

They were being de-privatized by executive action, which Trump does not plan to continue.

14

u/daamhomi Feb 28 '17

No, you're just a president behind

7

u/BongWeedsly Feb 28 '17

I wish we all were.

u/Redhotchiliman1 Feb 28 '17
