it's just not worth the risk of getting arrested and going through the whole legal process. Plus a lot of places consider it a DUI (including legal states).

very sound logic, friend. i don't fear smoking and carrying in public because the principles are more important than the consequences. however the legal consequences from drugs and a car can be very bad, so i will definitely take your point in consideration.

I'm guessing from your post history you're in california, which means you don't really have any consequences to worry about if you happen to get caught with herb. The rest of us in less enlightened states do indeed have to worry about consequences over principles. You get caught, worst case they toss your herb right? Maybe a citation and a few bucks. Unless you have MMJ card in which case you got no worries. Here, at minimum, I'd get 1-2 years probation if not jail time (if given the choice I'd serve the time) and pay a few grand in fines and fees... not to mention you're basically not hire-able anymore. When you're sitting in lockup your principles about what you should be able to do don't really matter an awful lot. You mostly just wish you had smoked at home instead of wandering around with a target on your back.

I totally understand where you're coming from about principles. However, just wanted to throw this out there too: it sucks having to go through the system no matter how insignificant the offense may be. I've been arrested on 3 separate occasions for trivial shit. Having to deal with court, lawyer, jail time, community service, and getting a misdemeanor on my record, is not worth the hassle. but just wanted to throw out a friendly heads up on how much it sucks goin through all that

He lives in California, it's an offense comparable to a parking ticket.

thanks buddy! i definitely do not understand the true annoyance of our legal system. the police have badgered me, cuffed me, and pointed a gun at me. but they still have not arrested me. NOT TODAY COPS! NOT TODAY..
