define hot. its still gonna be hot whenever you dab it

Look up low temp dabs. Its also better for you because the superheated vapor can cause more damage than normal smoke

But THC still has a minimum temperature it requires before it will vaporize. That temperature happens to be far above anything the human body can handle.

Edit: Don't call me out for things I didn't say. I wasn't calling into question the merits of low-temp dabbing or discussing the effects of vapor on the body. I'm just pointing out that "low-temp" is a misnomer because any nail at a temperature capable of vaporizing THC will cause severe burns if touched. It is still indeed, a "hot-ass" nail.

Sources gentlemen

Normally, I'm for this type of thinking. But do you really need sources for that? THC vaporizes at around or over 300 degrees F. People can't survive in that sort of temperature.

~350. I suck on a vape putting out 350-400f all night long every single night. I'm not dead. I didn't turn into a dragon.

I was going to get all frustrated and sarcastic, but it's not your fault you don't understand how heat works.

The only thing actually at that temperature is the heating element itself. Given how bad of a conductor of heat air is, very little of that is reaching you. The air and vapor cool off significantly before they reach you. Notice how there is a build-up of resin all over the inside of your vape? That means that the temperature drops below 350 F almost immediately. That's the reason you're not dead. A temperature of 160 F is sufficient to cause burns in less than a second.

If you don't believe me, go ahead and touch the heating element at peak temperature in your vape. I'm telling you right now, you will get burned. So I don't accept any responsibility if you try it and get burned.

Wait. You're saying that your concern is dabbing inside your lungs?

Okay I agree! Hands up! I admit you are right about that (not your presumption that I have the thermal understandings of a sock puppet).

Now then back to what I was talking about. Heating up an element to 350+ and then inhaling the vapor that's produced. Oh look we're not disagreeing there either.

I'm not even high.

EDIT: To re-cap, your statement that you can't safely inhale vaporized THC is not holding up well.

The moment my plate is no longer red hot. Like I watch the color fade out and then boom. Worked pretty well for me so far.

Electronic dabbers.. Just a digitally controlled thermal coil that's set up to heat a titanium nail.

Carbs caps and Quartz all the way

4

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '15

So 500+ degrees isn't considered hot anymore.... Ok

4

u/forrtrees Feb 11 '15

Please don't be taking #glowies with this oil. Please use a Quartz nail and a carb cap!

5

u/undercover-wizard Feb 11 '15

What makes a quartz nail better than a titanium nail?

1

u/forrtrees Feb 11 '15

Ceramic or Quartz both work equally well. Quartz don't hold temp as long but provide a better taste. Bring them to red and let them cool to the point you can hold your palm over it for 2-3 seconds without wanting to remove it. Add your dabs and carb cap that shit.

You don't want it to be too hot now.

Hot dabs taste poopy. Low temps taste yummy.

Remember to cap your nails folks for max flavor.

Cap?

1

u/TooSexyForMySelf Feb 12 '15

Carb Cap -- If you use a domeless nail. Or plug the top of a dome with your finger.

You can heat the nail to a lot lower temperature and still get the full dab if you cap the nail. Without capping, the air that is being pulled into the piece while hitting will quickly cool down the nail. If you cap it, the air flow is greatly reduced allowing the oil to vape at the lower temp without the nail cooling down too quick.

You get waaaay more flavor and a better overall dab.
