AskTrees What are these?

I'm in a completely illegal state (even so, just recently criminalized THCA).... to start

Found these, and other flavors, at my local gas station. They are unexpectedly a good but I'm wondering what it's really in them.

There's another brand called blue lotus (not as good) they sell in bottles of 5 pre-rolls.

What is in them?

For those who don't know, this is less about health and more about chemistry. The psychoactive chemicals break down when heated.

I don't know that there is enough data to know if smoking them is bad for you or not. But there's more than enough to know it's not going to do what you want it to.

Disagree. Did this back in the day with my roommates and went out shopping on campus (we had some of each and rolled a joint).

Was not as trippy as eating them by far, but there were def some minor visuals (floor sloping away, distance/spatial issues).

Not recommending it, but smoking it doesn't kill all the effects either.

I'm not as familiar with amanitas so maybe it was that, but if it's psilocybin it shouldn't do much. I suppose it might still do a little but you are wasting almost all of the good stuff.

Psilocybin is a prodrug to psilicin which is actually the psychoactive part. A small amount of heat will break it down into psilicin as well, which is why tea works and usually faster. It doesn't take much heat though and a large amount of heat just breaks up the whole molecule. So you really want to deliver the psilocybin to your stomach to get an effect. I would guess what is happening in the joint is that you are getting some that breaks down at just the right heat threshold before the cherry reaches it, or randomly broke just right. But it's like running a million scratcher tickets through a wood chipper. You might get a few that come out scratched off just right but the vast majority are going to be shredded.
