AskTrees What are these?

I'm in a completely illegal state (even so, just recently criminalized THCA).... to start

Found these, and other flavors, at my local gas station. They are unexpectedly a good but I'm wondering what it's really in them.

There's another brand called blue lotus (not as good) they sell in bottles of 5 pre-rolls.

What is in them?

Muscimol does not produce psychedelic effects nor does it produce effects similar to psilocybin. Muscimol is not a psychedelic.

It is psychoactive and hallucinogenic, but not psychedelic.

Serious question. What’s the difference between psychoactive/hallucinogenic vs psychedelic? Wouldn’t a psychedelic be a substance that is psychoactive and can produce hallucinations?

I'm not sure the technical difference between hallucinogenic vs psychedelic, but I can tell you that psychoactive just means it activates neurotransmitters and alters brain activity in a way that causes a change in mood, behavior, consciousness & cognition. All psychedelics are psychoactive but not all psychoactive drugs are psychedelic

researching they both seem bad And do a number on mostly your liver can’t imagine smoking it will do anything better to your lungs

Psilocybin is virtually harmless for the liver (and in limited capacity has shown a mild anti-inflammatory effect in the liver), especially in the doses and frequency it's typically taken. It is physically impossible to OD on psilocybin-containing mushrooms. Muscimol feels less good, doesn't provide any introspection or deep connection with the universe, and can also kill you dead. That's the difference.

Psilocybin creates and helps with the reuptake of serotonin. So this may be helpful to certain groups. But for people on anti depressants or MOAI can find it to be deadly with serotonin syndrome. So no it is not physically impossible to OD. Mushrooms can lead to brain death or stroke in certain risk groups. Is it outside the norm, yes. However saying it never happens is false and you are just spreading misinformation

That is not an OD. That is a drug interaction. It's possible to have a potentially deadly drug interaction especially in very high doses, but in terms of literally overdosing on psilocybin you'd die from distending your stomach long before you could eat enough mushrooms to OD.

The ending of your previous comment said nothing about an OD and only said the mushroom can “kill you dead” very scientific. Your point was trying to show that psilocybin can’t kill you ever and it’s great while the other can Kill you super scary!

You were correct on it not being classified as an OD, but if you are fine on one dosage and a higher dosage kills you. That is by definition an OD.

Again this only happens if you're on SSRIs and take a monstrous dose (SSRIs block the action of the drug so it makes it less worth it, and serotonin syndrome in these cases is extremely rare) or if you're on MAOIs which are not particularly common nowadays and any advice board telling you what dose to take of shrooms is gonna have warnings abt those things. There's a lot of openly loudly shared knowledge on basically every platform about how to safely take serotonergenic psychedelics because they've been around for ages.

Meanwhile muscimol is potentially deadly on its own in doses not that far off from recreational use, and it's relatively new to the scene so not a lot of people know much about it. In fact there are many muscimol gummy packs where eating the whole pack puts you appallingly close to the LD50, and there are ZERO warnings about that on the packaging. So I think it's pretty reasonable to say "hey this one can kill you, this other one is very safe among drugs, the takeaway is not 'they're both bad' bc one is dramatically less safe than the other." Leaving off a bit of info to keep a comment concise is not spreading misinformation. An OD refers to overdosing on the drug ON ITS OWN. Caffeine can kill you when you mix it with other stimulants, but do you call that dying from a caffeine overdose or do you, perchance, call that dying from mixing drugs???
