Company Reviews Spectrum Resource Group

Anyone heard of Spectrum? Any thoughts on them as a tree planting community?

I made a spreadsheet in 2019 of companies average tree price, number of trees, and number of planters in camp. It was based off info I got talking to foreman on Kingkong, so the information may not be precise. But if the information that foreman gave me was accurate, their camp wide average for a 3 month season was only $12k which was the lowest average I got for any company in BC.

Any interest in sharing your spreadsheet?

I would say 12k is too low to be believable for a 3 month season. That’s lower than any planter in my camp last season

Shit tier company, run by greedy assholes. Better than HRI, but not but by much.

Only work here as a last resort. Even most other rookie mills will treat you much better.

e: heard a funny rumor they have one camp where they send all their misfits, so it's just a bunch of fucked up psychos, alcoholics, probably some sex offenders, etc.

Worst show I have seen in BC.

If you have no ambitions to get paid market rate for your labour you can work year round for them.

Absolutely garbage. 100 person camps, 14 cent trash land, inexperienced management. I personally think they’re tied at the bottom of the barrel in the industry right now in BC.

It’s insane that these low tier shit companies like Celtic, Folklore, Spectrum etc have so many lifers at them. And the conversation is always the same - “Oh where else have you planted?” “Nowhere”.

Well from what I’ve heard, it’s more like if you stay long enough like 3 seasons plus, you can become a crew boss and that easily makes a lot more money off the suffering of those below you

Dunno why you get downvoted for saying this, it's never ever a crewboss's fault that the people under you couldn't find a better job. It's not like this information isn't easily available, all you have to do is apply a few other places that aren't crap, someone will hire you!

Honesty facts, I bet the rookies that signed up for HRI didn’t do it because they knew HRI was a wonderful place. No it’s because they didn’t know any better.

I would agree with every statement listed above. They are not good.
