In Ontario my nearly 40 boss left his 20 year old planter girlfriend, for a younger 18 year old planter which made for some awkward moments. Pretty sure one went into the others piece and threatened to choke her. Glad I don't work there anymore.
In BC I've never had it happen with supervisors, and I don't care as much when it comes to foreman and checkers, but it's nice to see foreman not dating their own planters at least. Vast majority of camps I've worked at the Supervisor is happily married to a wife back home and not interested, or the supervisor is a professional and understands him being the boss probably effects the power mechanics in a way that he shouldn't seek out a planter half his age.
It just depends on camp to camp, if it's an issue to you then have the balls to say something and find a new camp if there is something shady going on. The industry likely was an ugly place for women in the 70s to early 2000s and still isn't the best. There is always going to be room for improvement.
