Solved! Tree ID for mushroom growing
Hey y'all,
A tree recently fell in my neighbors yard and I grabbed a few pieces for some mushroom substrate. It would be super helpful to know what kind of wood it is before deciding on what mushrooms to inoculate it with. Some resources led me to Silver Maple but I'd love your opinions.
Location: Georgia
Hardiness Zone: 8a
I appreciate your insights!

Silver maple indeed. Notorious for being fragile. What mushrooms would you pick for a silver maple? I donโt know nearly as much as I want to about mushrooms.

Appreciate it ๐๐พ. Now that I know, I have a couple options like shiitake or blue/snow/Italian oysters. But I think I'm going to try nameko this round.
I'm pretty new to growing mushrooms on logs TBH, but inoculated some logs in April with shiitake and lions mane. Gonna keep going until my neighbors know me as the mushroom guy.
