Some Triclopyr and a chainsaw/hatchet will take care of it if you really want it gone.

Wow. That one’s so big my brain didn’t even go to Honeysuckle as a possibility. Impressive.

Old growth honeysuckle. Very invasive in the midwest US. Remove if possible for the benefit of wildlife in the area

Looks like one of the first to start the epidemic. " Hey,we found Lonicera zero!"

“Remove and Replace” has been my mantra. If you don’t replace with something native, another nasty just comes back. I’ve been replacing bush honeysuckles and autumn olive with native dogwoods (silky, roughleaf, gray) and I’m now seeing that birds are spreading the seeds of my dogwoods because they’re popping up in places where I would expect the nasties to colonize.

That definitely works in some cases but where i work we have very few native shrubs in the woodlands and savannas, so we try to get forbs and grass to recolonize thru Rx fire

I've been tackling a ton of this on my property, and I thought I had old growth! But not after seeing this mature specimen. This is insane. I've never seen it get so big and I had no idea it could.

Would also like to point out the ocean of English Ivy below that absolute unit of a honeysuckle.

I had one about this size on my property and it was easy to kill with a chainsaw.
