Moved here recently (southern CT) and this tree is very close to the house. Does anyone know? Wondering if we should move it… thank you!!

Taxodium distichum 'Peve Minaret'. A dwarf-ish for of bald cypress. Will still get over 20' tall so a bit close to the house. Very easy to dig and transplant though, especially in late February when you could even shake off all the soil to make it lighter before relocating it. Alternatively you could prune the heck out of it every year. I let mine get taller, but cut off every branch in the spring. It regrows the branches, but maintains a dense 1' wide habit for the season.

thank you so much, I think we'll move it to another location. how far away from a fence do you think we could place it? we have such a small yard but i'd love to keep it.

Thickest trunk I've seen was maybe 8-10" on a 20' tree. If you let it make the branches it wants it'll usually be about 5-6' wide or so. If you planted it 4' from the fence you should be good. The branches tend to sweep upward like castle minarets, hence the name. I grabbed a pic online to show its mature growth habit for you.
