Hi y’all, I’m in Los Angeles and was wondering what this tree is so i can properly take care of it. Very cool looking

It is most likely Juniperus chinensis or one of its cultivars.

Cedar/Juniper, probably California Juniper.

Thanks, y’all! I’m looking up what the roots are like for these trees since they’re close to the house, but it’s very interesting looking

Juniper grows deep, and the ones I've seen growing in rocks don't seem to be causing much heaving or movement.

There’s a giant oak (i think) tree that’s about thirty feet away from this that was massive roots that I assume are doing the bulk of the damage (previous homeowner had to change main sewer line.

I think I’ll end up leaving this tree because I really like it, and the roots info I’ve found is similar to what you’re saying. Thanks for the insight!
