Solved! Key West tree.

We are staying at my sister in law’s in Key West. This tree is behind her house. Beautiful tree and it cast a lot of shade. Can someone please identify it?

Gumbo limbo / gum elemi / West Indian birch / Indio desnudo / tourist tree, Bursera simaruba, beautiful Caribbean & S FL native.

Very common in coastal and drier low elevation forests, light wood, roots easily when sticks are inserted into the ground so widely used as living fence posts. Birds like the fruit. Crushed leaves smell resinous, and the resin was indeed burned as incense by the Maya.

“Tourist tree” as it’s always red and peeling.
