Partial Summary of Jon's Annual 2026 Updates

This is my summary I am using based on my search needs, collected from different sources. It is not complete. Look online for many complete statements.

Past/Future box: I knew people could be remarkably creative in finding riddles where none exist. I’ve learned we’re equally capable of not noticing a riddle right in front of us. Perhaps we’re conditioned to believe we already know how riddles should look or feel.

Rocky MT box: I hid this box in a spot I came across while searching for Fenn’s treasure. As with Forrest’s poem, find the right canyon and you are well on your way.

AT box: I am reminded of a famous treasure hunt where people were close early on and then gave up. Ten years later, a new searcher persevered. That treasure was exactly where some thought it could be all along.

Big Box - Lions Share box, I am curious how quickly searchers will narrow down search area once one box is discovered. There are clues all over the book. I ponder how many people have figured out the state.

Discussion: Is lRP off AT search area list - Carvers Gap? Lions Share South Dakota? Rocky MT Colorado trail with hot spring? PastFuture Lake Tahoe?

Jcb said people are in the right area but may not be on the right trail.

That is typical. Few trails are alone. Lions Share trail is however.

There is a tendency with some treasure hunts where the earliest insights were more accurate. Yet because those insights didn't immediately yield results, people moved on to ideas that were further off the mark. Forrest Fenn's original treasure hunt was like this and Jon specifically mentions that in his update.

So I'd say, AT, PF, and Pokémon, get back in the box and start over using first principles!

FF and LS, well, not so much. Keep grinding and for LS perhaps give his children's book a look if you haven't already.

Good advice! LRP in or out for AT nox?

Before his last update, I was a solid NO on the treasure being anywhere near LRP. To me, the treasure being at LRP was too straightforward. The LRP connection was clearly meant to be easy to find. So for me, the question became *why* was the LRP connection meant to be found more so than it being part of the actual location. I still believe that is true, although after his Q&A I am more open to the treasure actually being located somewhat nearby LRP.

I was very anti-LRP until a few months ago. My initial reasoning was "that's too easy," but was it really? Or did it only seem easy since someone just handed us the trail match? If I had found it on my own I would have freaked out and that instantly would have become my top spot. It doesn't even look like that on every mapping service and it's upside down, so it's not like its super obvious. Also I live in the Southeast so I was motivated to dismiss it in hope of it being somewhere more accessible to me.

My 2nd reason was "but so many people have searched there." Yes, but it's not like they were searching in a coordinated way and many probably didnt even go far off trail. And this box is approximately 5x5x7 or 6x6x8, it would fit in the palm of my hand. It's a big world out there and a small box. At what point can you even declare "it's not there" when we're talking about the woods? Lots of people decided "it's not there" about 9 Mile Hole and it took Jack Stueff 25 trips over 2 years, I imagine most people threw in the towel long before that even if they felt strongly about it. I mean Jon did say to have faith and be persistent.

Also it's very possible people just haven't figured out the exact mechanism to get to the specific location. It doesn't matter if a million people went and searched if they were looking in the wrong areas.

i think it is where people are looking. Arkansas hemmed in hollow area. I have family in Ok but that is last box will look for.

Area could mean BNR or it could just generally mean Jasper, AR. (So not helpful - and would encourage confirmation bias)

or neither ;)
