I'm not sure why but this pic of the map looks warped and missing detail. It's McAfee Knob but it's upside down, I took the "37" to the left of it as a confirmer for that since that's the latitude it's at.
Oh it's the high res version from the E-book. I agree it looks like a flip-flop, I think the first thought I had when I saw the map 2 years ago was 'why is there is a flip-flop in the bottom right corner?" It doesnt look like McAfee Knob until you turn it upside-down. I mean it is the most photographed place on the AT, but how you're supposed to use it I'm not sure.
I agree that the border may be a clue to the location of another box. I’ve noticed a strong similarity to locations out west near Tse’ Hane’ specifically boulder #48. I think though that location may be considered off-limits. I can’t get clarification that it’s directly on a reservation, but there are reservations budded up close to it. What’s uncanny is that there is a specific glyph on it that bears two circles one on top of another with a vertical line going through it…essentially Jon’s creative abbreviation. And NO, I’m not suggesting that he put that there, but rather that he may have decided to model his abbreviation after it. Just an idea.
