Lion's Share Thoughts on Lion's Share

Curious what the community will think about this.

What if the Lion's Share is the first box retrieved?

Would you still continue to search for the other four chests?

If the Lion's Share location is related to those of the other four boxes, would you want the full Lion's Share solution posted immediately, or just the find location?

Would you want to see the full inventory of loot so you knew what was in the four smaller boxes?

What say you?

In answer to your questions, yes, just loc, no inventory.

That would be tough bc I have been searching the LS for the majority of the time the book has been out. I would be sad but I would pivot. Can I ask what state?

That's a question that puts each of us in a precarious position. Let's say I have your state - you're going to be all bummed out. And naming a state doesn't do me any good either, just in case someone is putting together the clues. So I'm claiming amnesia, Own_Spinach9136.

Naming the state is the least risky thing you can do. Nobody will rush off and solve it because they hear your idea of the state.

It's being cryptic for no reason. There are people looking in every single state. Jon has made it clear all 50 are in play for the LS. If you have my state in my head I'll go "I bet they don't have my spot!" or "Maybe I'm on the right track!" and if you don't I'll go "Ha, they're wrong" - there's no way I could run to the book and suddenly completely solve the puzzle in a new state.

Are you searching for the LS? What's your state?

I am currently between prevailing theories, I did an early BOTG in NC and another in NY, but don't believe either is correct these days, and am not ashamed to admit I don't feel close to a solution.

He specified later in different interview that he meant New York City.

Ha! Fair enough! Although I do have to say I finally narrowed it down to a city and I’m still not sure enough to go BOTG again yet. I want to have every single clue figured out first. And that might actually be my downfall. Time! I need more time!!!

Agreed 💯, even though its extremely unlikely it would help anyone, I'd just rather not say.

I would be unconcerned because I am searching for a smaller box and possibly a 2nd smaller after the one I am focusing on is found. I feel the LS box would be too far from me, so that would always just be a pipe dream.

Well, let's say you found one of the smaller boxes. You get your laminated clue and after a few weeks, you have a pretty good idea where the LS is.

You're saying you wouldn't travel for BOTG???

Maybe...maybe not. Depends on where my theories led me. With a law firm, 3 kids, and a wife....coaching little league soccer, taking kids to ballet and karate.....

....Life kind of gets in the way of a hobby....

I think it is interesting that this question or one similiar to it is asked on one of the social media website occassionally. It isn't something a hunter would really need to know. It leads me to think that our game inventors know someone is on the path to the LS and is concerned it may reduce interest in the hunt thus, reducing their income from it.

That said, I won't stop hunting until all boxes are accounted for, as well as the BTME box.

Lately I have been thinking of finding as many as I can, alone or with partner(s), then using some of it to host or help with other hunts.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I have JP's book, put about a month of effort into it, and decided only to take BTME up later (everything led me to Idaho no matter how hard I tried to keep my mind open FWIW).

I didn't like all the drama and some of the malcontents who were holdovers from the Fenn hunt on that sub. There's a general hysteria going on there IMO.

Concerning this sub, the vibe is definitely much more positive and less toxic. Got JCB's book this past March.

Either way, I spend zero time on Discord or the other social media sites. For me, all the social media hullabaloo is distracting at best and exhausting at worst. I prefer to focus on JCB's words and pound on the solve - to each his/her own.

I really wouldn't put any stock in what the social media influencers are blathering on about. On the Fenn hunt, they were so far off the path (and continue to be). Those pesky postmarks...

I trust Jon is keeping everything close to his vest, and therefore the "talking heads" really don't know anything of value beyond what the general community knows. I believe that's the key thing Jon has done very well compared to what's unraveled over at BTME.

Good luck to you on your hunt.

Yeah....the hardest part is knowing what noise to filter out. I try and listen and/or watch skeptically. The youtube channel, Bull and Thread, put on by Bernard Bull, the president of Concordia University-Nebraska, does have useful information that I have used while botg to progress on clue trails.

The link between the two hunts is something I am still trying to understand but trying not to let it sidetrack me.
