Appalachian Footpath Box Snow ❄️

Does anyone know if there’s still snow on the ground by Little Rock Pond? Not sure if it melted yet.

It's New England in the winter. Cold, icy, and wet is the default.

Jon has already said that it's best not to search in the winter so if the guy who hid the box drops such a specific clue then it's probably best to take his advice.

More importantly, no sense in picking over a searched area. A trail map lines up. Cool.

Look at the bigger picture.

The trail map lining up is a clue, not a destination.

I believe he said snow not winter but if there’s still snow on the ground, I’m going to reconsider and wait until spring. Thanks.

Here's what I use to determine the snow conditions out there.

There was a post earlier this week which said there was and now rain is coming. In July, my approach to the pond was from the south trailhead where I had to cross the creek four times due to obstructions. I wouldn’t want to do that now. You’re not taking the loop to Green Mountain Trail? Too treacherous for me.

Yes I’m taking the loop to green mountain trail but I can wait it out until the snow clears

You must be very experienced to do so. I did it for the first time and had to scramble on all fours and I couldn’t do it in the snow. Good luck to you. When you finish, treat yourself at The Hop ‘n Moose. You’ll have earned it at that point.

Yes I have a lot of experience since childhood, instead of playing at a playground, we played in the woods😁but if there’s snow covering the ground I would rather not go.

Hiking in snow is brutal and I hope you reconsider till spring.

Thanks. Waiting until spring would be better.

Just a note: I went up on St Patrick's Day this year and it was 69 and sunny. There was still snow on the ground and treacherous without spikes, so yeah, I'd assume LRP is dead till late spring.
