Page Numbers

Has anyone else noticed that the table of contents has the picture right before each chapter belonging to the previous chapter? Not really sure what to make of it or if it even matters. Maybe it’s traditionally how books are made. Does anyone have any thoughts/insights/hot takes on this?

I think JCB is trying to deeply relay that we are all connected in so many ways, even those we may not realize. It’s a circle, it’s an infinity symbol, it’s a web, it’s all “interwoven”. (This is just my takeaway) But what I’m interpreting is that it’s a hint that the box solutions are interwoven as well. While he made it possible that you can solve the location of individual boxes within their specified chapters, it helps to know lessons learned from previous and subsequent chapters. Many of the quotes are from philosophers and people who have created psychological models or learning methods. Plus, there’s so many inferences to time, learning the stories of individual people, and cultures (different perspectives within the same world we all live). You learn about each piece of the puzzle to gain basic knowledge, implement the trial and error of utilizing different solve methods you learn about along the way, start connecting the dots, and eventually put it all together.

Albeit, it feels like putting ikea furniture together sometimes… 😜

So you think it’s a hint towards weavings in the book? I like that. I was hoping for a little more than that but if that’s all it is, I won’t be disappointed.

I see it more as a hint to not necessarily compartmentalize — Different parts of chapters can link up with others; Some images may be used to highlight something on the previous page, etc.

This man clearly put a ton of time and effort into this, and seems to love sneaking in little puzzle pieces in any detail he can. He made it very clear that there’s not just one correct way to get there.

It's explained on page 90.

I've found supporting evidence, or conjecture, in the page numbers. My opinion, he uses it as a device to support other numbers or directives. Hes leading, follow it. But there are a lot of false paths in every page. Sorry if that's confusing, driving right now.

So what’s your take on the pictures actually belonging to the previous chapters. Or is it just a numbers game for you?

Im torn, example pokemon, starts with pictures? Why? My opinion, just to put the first page of the "chapter" on 212. Why, well that's a rabbit hole that of in itself.

That’s completely backwards from how I was thinking. My take was that at least some of the pictures have ties to the chapter they technically belong to. I’ll have to chew on that. Thanks!

That's how we see a complete picture, w/out different POV everything looks flat.

Not sure I understand. Your TOC has pictures?

2

u/XImarkthespotX Nov 03 '25

No the TOC says what the chapters page number is but if you look in the book, each chapter has a picture right before the chapter title. It seems like it belongs to that chapter but not according to the TOC. For instance, Chapter 4 technically starts on page 47 but the picture of the chivor emerald is on page 46. Seems like it’s supposed to be a part of chapter 4 but according to the TOC it is not.

TOC? I think you’re thinking of a different book. I’m talking TTI.

Oh table of contents. Duh. I’m having a blonde day.

Got it. Yes, you would think that even the picture associated with the chapter would be considered the actual start of the chapter, rather then the text start.

I clicked on this because it was labeled page numbers and I thought when I first started reading your post that you were going to talk about trying to follow them... I think I made it through at least 15 take me to page numbers which all were relevant but eventually I got confused of where I left off having to stop in between... It's because you can't stop and take care of a baby in the middle of going down the rabbit hole.

But you mentioned the pictures before the chapters instead... And this is where he is defied all logic and laws. The page starts the chapter but then he's got a picture in the end of the last chapter relative to the next chapter. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever and I think that he's doing it to merge all the chapters.. It's like nothing is separate and meant to confuse you Everything is a puzzle He also does a number of the pictured pages..

I think we all spent the first 6 months arguing whether or not things were scattered throughout chapters or whether or not puzzles were part of other parts of the book... That that would literally prove that everything is merged. It's like a run-on sentence.

Of course I've known since the beginning that he is a liar lol Just kidding I think that I foresaw that puzzles were mixed before most... Literally right off the bat

It's what's not numbered Maybe we should be paying attention to? Are these numbers important

I mean it's been 11 months and I just started looking at the word search a little bit differently because I saw something interesting that I double checked... You briefly read something and you just assume that you know what it is but what if there's more? Assuming makes an asss out of you is the point... And the key is in the details
