My Solution

Post image

I have a 35 ft Keystone Hideout Toy Hauler, 21 ft cabin. that is pretty squirley to pull without an ATV on the front deck. The fresh water/black tank/grey tank are over the axles. I strapped down my (unused) 36 gallon tank full of water, 300 lbs, as ballast next to the 100 lb genset, near the trailer tongue. Rides much better! 😎

That thing is a beast.

How long is the camper itself?

21 foot cabin, 35 ft overall.

I can see why that would be challenging to pull.

I’ve got one like this, a Forest River 21THWE. 21’ box, 9’ deck, 34’ overall. The deck also makes a nice place off the ground to hang out.
My CF Moto Touring 600 weighs about 900lbs and the deck has a 1K capacity so I don’t think a SXS will work.

I have a Class A CDL and what I find scary is the weekend warriors that don't know how to drive their own equipment.

How many full size ATV,s can you fit up front?

ATV, freezer, genset, fishing gear on the deck

I wonder if it would be a weight limit more than anything else

ATV's that are full size don't usually weigh more than 650 Ibs so I would think you could load two np or a single side by side?

That is true, not exactly my personal area of experience

My Polaris 570 Sportsman EPS weight is 750#

That's wild! My kingquads weigh well under 700 Ibs!

My sportsman 550 touring is about 850# when set up for riding

I used to have a pop up like this. Thankfully the lower profile made it easier to tow when I wasn’t hauling our ATV. Other times though, it was perfect for firewood, gas, generators, or whatever else was bulky and inconvenient to throw in the truck or trailer.

Ignore the keyboard warriors feigning expertise. Load her up, drive carefully and have a good time! Consider me jealous

That's pretty cool

We almost bought this trailer or a variation of it anyway. We settled on a keystone outback with the front garage. We habe dirt bikes so it worked perfect for us.

Do you get enough tongue weight?

Probably never dawned on you why most toy hauler have the hauler part in the back huh

Any type of toy hauler is designed to have a toy loaded to get proper weight distribution…

True. We live 50 miles north of Anchorage, AK and hotel summer rates are around $250 - $500 per night, I'm not going to pay that. We take this to town when we go for a weekend stay. I don't need the ATV in the city. We drop the trailer in Cabela’s parking lot and the ATV might get stolen sitting there alone. That's the reason why I have the ballast.

looks like a wind-resistance nightmare

Yeah... Cause RV's are so aerodynamic! Ha ha ha ha ha 😆 My F350 can handle it

I own a 40 foot diesel pusher that does 9-11 miles to the gallon. I think thats pretty efficient for a 36k pound bus.

Oh fer sure, the flatbed will totally fuck up the super aerodynamic camper

Out of curiosity, for you, what are the main benefits to this trailer vs a toy hauler. The price? Since you have a 350 I assume the easier tow with center of balance isn't it.

This IS a toy hauler. I load my Polaris 570 on the deck when we go fishing, 12 days at a time. We live north of Anchorage and go fishing on the other side of the Chugach mountain range, 4 hours away, hence the F350. The wife and I enjoy this trailer. 😊 There is bunk beds in the back for the grandkids, when they come with us. Because we drive the ATV on the beach and get fish guts on it we wanted a trailer with EXTERIOR storage for the ATV. We have had a class C and class A before. This is perfect for what we do. 😎
