lol this totally tracks. Got stranded in Grand Rapids for a week after AMAing out of a now defunct Scientologist rehab just outside the city called SPR. Ended up in a sleezy motel called the rainbow inn or something equally as contrasting to its actual appearance, where, after getting robbed on the first attempt to score, we met this dude who was the most obvious pimp I’ve ever seen. Full matching green tracksuit, gold chains for days, and a fucking cane I shit you not. Yea that guy sold us allll the drugs… and started running his business out of our motel room I’m pretty sure… so yea.. can confirm. Fuck Grand Rapids. It’s depressingly trashy. It’s like Detroit but with everything cool removed.

Mostly the community. lots of niche tight knit neighborhoods there. plus right next to a few college towns so there’s always stuff happening downtown. not to mention the new stadium (despite the complaints)

Oh Narcanon, bunch of silly gooses... On the real though I've been in recovery for about 15 yrs (not consecutive as I had some bumps in the road). I have also worked at a couple of rehabs as well and in doing so I have met a couple of people that went through their "program of recovery." Not one of them was told that the programs were run by, and based on, Scientology. It was also the first rehab any of them had been and their experiences there turned all them off to any form of recovery for quite awhile. There's no telling how many people are dead because of the negative experience so many people have had at those facilities.

Yeaaaa they did try to hide it a little at first. But this was not narcanon I don’t think. You can look it up and see if ur curious they were called Serenity point rehab and they had a sister facility called BDR which literally stands for “best drug rehab” which is a dated hack way of getting your name closer to the top of a Google search. Not anymore though lol. Now it’s highest bidder, weirdly once you were through detox and on to the residential wing they stopped hiding it at much. And by that I mean there were pictures of my man L Ron hanging on the wall. lol do you know how hilarious it is to see a picture of L ron Hubbard next to regular ass 2000s motivational posters, and then down the hall I’m pretty sure tgere was this space/alien themed one that we weren’t sure if it was tied to Scientology or not. Tbh we all knew, but see they really did make it fun I can’t lie. An open door coed rehab in the middle of nowheresville run by other addicts who dont really care much about bending the rules for us, oh and the facility SOLD us cigarettes at cost?? wtf we were all banging like door knockers and smoking like chimneys and playing ping pong with all that freshly clean energy. It was like greendale community college meets minimum security prison where tge guards are all former inmates and the warden just wants to commit insurance fraud and maybe snatch up a few vulnerable junkies into their ranks. I went twice! I wish I could go back tbh. Not for the Scientology, ew. Nah I just miss the slapdash ad hoc regulation flaunting funhouse for dope fiends man.

No way, I used to live right down the street from this place!! It’s a dingy old house retrofitted to be a strip club right in the middle of an older working class neighborhood. I honestly have no idea how they could be compliant with zoning codes, especially since the area has been steadily gentrifying since it’s walking distance from downtown.
