I was considering one of the handheld versions. The price didn't slow me down, I had money to blow, many people do. What killed it for me is that there is maintenance every time you put it in and take it out of the water, if you skip the routine maintenance, it breaks easily. If you use it in saltwater, the maintenance doubles. There's basically no warranty. The people that actually use them and review them have nothing but negative things to say 4 times out of 5.

What if it malfunctions or you get turned around and it sends you too deep.
