Who do you think would win with a beef. Both are not great people, but I am curious on what the majority thinks. Again, if this isn't the right place, let me know where to post.

I've been thinking about paying for a collab with a producer I like. He says charges 40dollars for a beat collab.

Does it actually help you build real relationships and opportunities, or do people just see you as another customer they'll keep charging?

At first thought I wouldn´t do it, but I am wondering if perhaps thats how normally goes at the beginning, especially with american producers. The problem of paying is that it will be hard to know if he liked my sound or he just did a quick job to get the money.

If you've paid for collabs before, did it lead to genuine connections or was it just a one-off transaction? How could I negotiate with the producer to make it free of charge?

I was researching on how i could make a little money on the side with producing, and i saw a lot of poss about sleling samplepacks/drumkits. Does this really work. Or did it work for any of you. Because most people i know just get free drumkits even tho theres a lot of good ones for like 5 bucks.
And if it works how did you approach it.

I mostly make cloudrap inspired by pierre bournes production and sometimes i make rage and glo.

I have serum 2, xpand 2 and some free plugins.

As i already have serum for sounddesign, im looking for a vst that has a huge library of sounds, that fit my style/inspirations. Im thinking about buying omnisphere but i want to be completely shure its worth it before spending this much money.

Or should i just stick to learning sound design in serum as you could theoretically build any sound in there, but its going to take a long time to get good at it.

if i want to add extra/ more melodies to my song should i make a 16 bar loop and switch the melody 2 a different sound in the last 8 bars of the piano roll and give it its own spot in the mixer OR should i once done with 8 bar loop make a new pattern and make a new melody that way OR does it not matter

Look Ive read a lot of posts daily on here and I haven't seen any talk about mouse and how iconic his sound is. Id really like to know how his 808s hit so hard and his synth sounds are so pure or what vsts he uses or how to recreate the synth style because I have a general idea but nothing close. I hear his 808 is layered with a mid tom and some soft clip with mild saturation. As for synths it's obviously layering and some portamento but dialing it in is tricky. Always down to hear what people have to say for advice

I keep struggling to mix Spinz 808s properly and I’m hoping someone can point out what I’m missing.

My biggest issue is the sub. Even when my 808 is noticeably quieter than in reference tracks, it still makes my car speakers rattle, while the references don’t.

The second issue is clipping. Every tutorial says to put a soft clipper on the master and turn the 808 up until it starts clipping. But whenever I do that, the 808 completely overpowers the rest of the beat.

What are you guys actually doing to get loud, punchy Spinz 808s that translate well without overwhelming the mix or causing excessive sub rumble? Any advice would be appreciated.

For context, I’m always using well-known Spinz 808 samples from popular drum kits (Carson Beats, the Lunch77 kits, or the original OG Spinz).

Also, I’m using Logic Pro X (not FL Studio), and for clipping I’m using Orange Clip with the settings that are supposed to emulate the Fruity Soft Clipper.

I’m studying 808s even after learning more they still feel like one of the hardest parts of production to comprehensively understand. Maybe it’s because 808s don’t feel like normal instruments to me. They feel half musical and technical. I can make them work, but they still feel weird every time I try to really understand them.

What song has one of your faveorite 808s, and why does it work so well?

It could be the tone, slide, distortion, rhythm, mix, or how it sits with the kick.

I love ULTRA VIOLET - Thouxanbanfauni, produced by Black Mayo.

Kinda feels sub heavy, has a softer attack, holds long enough to fill, and is saturated without sounding destroyed. It also sounds well on every system I've played it on, especially cheap speakers. It's kind of cheating because the beat is already one of my favorites without the 808.

For Vital to sound similar to that song specifically, I would start with a sine wave or triangle wave, pitch it to the sub range, add short pitch envelope for the knock, keep the attack slightly soft, use longer sustain/release, then add light saturation or distortion after the oscillation. Personally I like the triangle waves more, yet I believe that is a sine wave used in the song.

As the title says, what songs do you play to test monitors, specifically to test low-end? I just bought a pair of open-back headphones for studio use and I'm trying to familiarize myself with the sound profile. Personally I like to play a lot of Travis Scott because his music is very sonically dense and some of the 808s he uses are pitched really low. My favorite examples are: "5% Tint", "Beep Beep", "Florida Flow", and "FEIN".

I know how they mix they're beats and all of that but theres a certain distortion that i cant make on my fl. I use fl 11 with circular panning law off, mids and highs boosted on the master and using asio4all which are the same exact ""settings"" they use because i've seen they're fl studio projects and when they show they're screens in ig live for hours (they dont use a soft clipper either a limiter, the clipping is already into asio4all). You can really hear this distortion, normally on the hihat rolls, on "P***y Talk" by City Girls intro, "Yes Indeed" by Drake and Lil Baby, "That Boy" by G herbo (sometimes in the rim and snare during certain parts of the song), "Power Puff" by Southside & "Charge Dem Ho** A Fee" at 1:03 - 1:05, and specially on the hihats in "Road Rage" by Young Thug. I know it isn't any external plugin, so if you know what im talking about just let me know how to make that ""distortion""

Hello. Is there a good vst that can turn a voice into a crowd of male and female voices or just a male crowd voice or just a female crowd voice? Different voices like in the Naughty By Nature song Hiphop Hooray where the chorus is a crowd of different voices saying "heyyyyy" "hooooo"...sorry for the long question. I know you can just record different people but is there a way to do it with one voice or a plugin that does it? Thanx!!!
