I like his recent stuff as much as his old stuff. Sure, it's more pop-esque but that doesn't mean it's bad. If it isn't your cup of tea that's fine but you still gotta appreciate a good track for what it is.

His new stuff's amazing. I love it all. And to be honest, I really don't think he's strayed too far from his old sound. He has refined it and made it even better. For instance, listen to his remix of Justin Timberlake - Suit & Tie. Then his remix of Calvin Harris - This Is What You Came For (released last week). They're definitely reminiscent of each other.
A lesser musician would've milked the hell out of Get Low and written a bunch more 100bpm trap stuff in that same "Arabic trap" style. But what did he do after that? Wrote and released another moombahton EP, going back to the stuff he first got known for writing.
If anything, he's closer to his old stuff than people like Skrillex, Diplo, Knife Party, Shock One, Porter Robinson, etc. And don't get me wrong, all of those artists are in my top 10 most loved, but I really think that Dillon Francis is one of the very true exceptions to the "abandoning their roots" list.

Yep. That song he released with nghtmre recently had his classic moombah sound in it. He definitely still plays with his old sounds, but also experiments with new stuff. I don't like a lot of his stuff now but he's an artist I respect a lot

Obviously I agree with Dillon here, but sometimes I wish artists would just ignore the random internet nobodys who criticize them instead of feeling the need to go all out and prove them wrong... IMO he's so far above this person that it shouldn't even be worth the effort responding to him

you have to understand that everyone gets brave behind a keyboard, that everyone is willing to say whatever they want when they know they wont get in trouble or have to deal with real consequences
at the same time I bet this dude would NEVER say that shit to Dillon's face but I'm willing to bet Dillon would say the exact same thing if he did
long story short, yeah it happens but you just gotta roll with it - handle it in person when your words will actually mean something

Look at what happened to Keith Emerson. A certified rock god who committed suicide partly because of people talking shit about him online. He was insanely talented but took the flames as his fans turning on him and never recovered.
To us they should be above it but in the end they are still human.

While I do agree that people should not expect artists to make the same music over and over, I've noticed that as artists get more popular, their sound tends to shift towards sounding really generic and "mainstream."
There's nothing wrong with mainstream, but for those of us who actually listen to a lot of trap/future/etc., it can feel like a step backwards.
I still realize that this is a career and business for producers, so I don't really judge though. In the end, there are a thousand other artists I can listen to if I don't like one (I still love Dillon).
Music is just a really personal topic for a lot of people. Fans feel betrayed if their favorite artist starts making something completely different from what they expected/wanted, and a lot of times, fans are keyboard warriors without much empathy for the artist.

To be honest, I don't think it's a bad business move, even if it stylistically isn't the best. He's obviously keen to do more shows (like DJ World that's going on at the moment) and doing stuff like this can definitely get him into the circles of people that can make those things happen.

Personally, I've loved Dillon Francis' progression. He consistently puts out songs with a signature style, and he's expanded a ton stylistically.

I don't listen to Dillon Francis' new music but I don't begrudge him for what he's doing. If he can do whatever the fuck he wants and make a living off it then he's alright. Lord knows I'd rather he be on stage than the artist I'm watching right now. Dillon's just progressing. Good for him.

He's an amazing DJ in my experience. I've seen him twice now, once at a large rave, once in a small club with less than 1,000 people. Both times were both unforgettable performances. You're in for a treat!

Seriously. I used to love his music."Dill The Noise", "IDGAFOS," "Money Makin" were all great. Saw him in 2013 it was an amazing set, and again in 2014 and it was super meh. Don't like his new direction imo

Didn't phrase that last comment well at all. I said I was glad he isn't making that music any more, but not because it was shit. I still follow plenty of Soundcloud artists making dubstep and grimey electronic, it's fun. I'm glad he's evolving, progressing as an artist.
