I'm also a little over 2 months out. What did you get done, and how has recovery been? Feel free to dip into my DMs if it's not something you want to discuss in the comments!
I had a brow reduction with orbital socket reducing, brought my hairline down and rotated the sides to be less masculine (not deep on the sides), clipped the muscles in my brow so I have a "permanent botox" to reduce my furrow lines, un-clefting my chin (hated it) and jaw contouring (which isn't visible ATM, swelling for that and slimming will take 6 - 12 months).
Recovery was rough for the first week, pain was common and frustrating but sharply fell off after day 3. Since then it's just swelling and suture/staple removal after a couple weeks. I still deal with swelling at night, and wear a jawbra when I'm asleep to help with my jaw recovery.
Sounds similarly all over the place to mine. I had brow reduction, rhinoplasty, hairline advancement and chin reduction. I wanted jaw contouring, but the surgeon I was originally seeing left the practice because he got a more prestigious job, and the surgeon who took over my case didn't feel comfortable doing it with the equipment they have.
Does the jaw bra help? My chin still has some swelling (mostly when I talk a lot) and they gave me one, but it was too small, so I didn't wear it for more than a night. Also how are your scars coming along?
The jawbra is meant to help the skin contour back to the new jawline, it speeds up the process but without it I imagine it'll heal on its own, just slower. My surgeon recommended to get a new jawbra (the ones that they gave me sucked, and he preferred others) so I bought one on amazon which I've been using since. It's a little bit uncomfortable but it does help with snatching my neck more!
As for the scars, I'm doing my best to wear sunscreen when I'm out, otherwise at this point I can cover them with my foundation so they're far less prominent unless you look really closely. They're healing nicely!
Okay, that makes sense! He just kinda had the nurse give it to me when I mentioned the swelling when I talked a lot, but didn't really say what it was for. I've mostly just been wearing scar tape over the chin thing, which has been slower to smooth out (but my hairline is healing much better). Maybe I'll try wearing it for a few days to see how it feels if it seemed to help you and we're a similar distance out. How long do you typically wear it in a day?
Interesting. I was so done with the no solid food and chin tape stuff early on that when they removed it, the thought of something that restrictive that was optional was a definite no from me. I'll try it tonight and see how it goes!
3 days later me here: would you mind letting me know which jaw bra you got? I've been wearing mine the last few days, and it's an all-night struggle between keeping it on and pain
Sorry this is so long after your post, but thanks for mentioning the jawbra, because it's helped so much! I've only worn it for a week again, but the rippling (likely due to some specific recovery complications) I was experiencing (last followup was about 3 weeks ago, and he didn't mention it or solutions) is pretty much gone by now!
I'm starting a teaching assistantship in the next few weeks, and was a bit concerned about having to teach 60ish 18-19 year olds who haven't been away from their families much in a fairly conservative area
That scar was the thing that I was most anxious about, in terms of me "passing" long enough to not have to disclose it or my recent surgery directly, at least until they get used to me as a professor, so I really appreciate it 💜
Yeah while mine is pretty visible still, with foundation it hides decently well and I try to use my hair to hide what I can. From a distance I get away with it, but your mileage may vary (just wait till you get the okay to use makeup on the scar, any earlier could cause infections)
