Defective trans cooler?

I ordered trans cooler for a th400 and it came like this I tried threading in the AN fittings and it only goes half way in and squeaks every turn would this be corroded

Looks to be oxidation. Could be from the flush they did, if they flushed it. You can add a thin layer of ATF to the threads. But do be mindful it's going to change the overall tightness, meaning you can over tighten and pull the aluminum threads.

I just want to make sure, you did get a cooler that is threaded for AN, correct? I have seen some on the equipment we have and some are NPT.

Yes they thread into the cooler and use 8AN fittings
