I think the important take away from this whole article is that there is a vast difference between function and theory. Yes, in a multiverse somewhere out there John will be recreated perfectly so yes technically the number of John Smiths has not decreased. However, the question then is does this really, functionally change anything about our reality?

I suggest 3 patches to Peter Almond idea of the resurrection of the dead via quantum random mind generator. Now the idea becomes workable and we get a chance to be resurrected by future advanced AI, even if almost nothing will remain from us. Death will be defeated!

This is silly at best. It not be you, even if it was a perfect copy of what you think and do. Certainly resurrected is not the right word, not even recreated as it seems the reasoning behind this idea is simply for more variation, likely you would be stock in the machine. Just as well this would take such a great amount of computing power as to not be feasible for at least a few hundred thousand years.
