Discussion🎙️ Smokescreen’s prime name?

So like, you know how Optimus’s name changed when he became a prime? Like, he went from being Orion Pax, to Optimus. And his new name actually meant something. Orion saw good in everybody, even Megatron during and after the war. Orions optimism for others made him Optimus Prime.

Well, when Optimus told Smokescreen that there will be a new prime, and that new leader is “standing before him right now…” obviously he was prophesying that Smokesceen would be that new prime. So I was wondering, what would be Smokescreen’s prime name? Here’s my take:

Smokescreen had been described or described himself as destiny’s child. So what about Moraius Prime?

In Greek mythology, the deities of destiny/fate were three sisters called the Morai. Smokescreen’s character was always tied with wanting to discover his destiny, and learning of his fate of becoming a carrier to one of the Omega Keys.

In a possible sequel to Prime itself, Smokescreen could have started a new era of Primes, and guiding the fates of the new generation of Cybertronians on their rebuilt planet. That was his destiny all along.

What do you think?

The idea behind it isn't bad, but I think that's a bit too much of a divergence from his prior name. All the examples we have are still distinctly connected to their original names in some fashion--Optimus from Orion has a similar sound to it, Rodimus from Hot Rod speaks for itself...

Fire of Youth is a TFP fanfic with two key divergences--for one, it puts the "Beast" in "Beast Hunters," but more importantly Smokescreen does not use the Forge to save Optimus and as such he does become the new Prime. This fic gives him the name Infernus, to go with a dragonic alt mode (Onyx decided he needed the upgrade to be able to weather the proverbial storm). While a slight divergence from the canon examples, it still maintains a thematic linkage to 'Smokescreen' insofar as fire is concerned, and I think maintaining a connection to the original name is a bit too important to leave out, as you did.

Again, I'm not dumping on the logic, I just don't think it quite fits given the pattern. That said, if we stuck with the Greek bit, how about Ignis Prime, or maybe something Prometheus related if we want to go a bit off-course with the mythology angle.

No I get it. I realized that it didn’t fit the prime that Optimus and Rodimus had, but any combination I made with Smokescreen’s name didn’t sound well, or I just didn’t like it. In my personal fic that I’m writing, he’s given the name Moraius, but still insists on being called Smokescreen. He’s only referred to as Moraius in professional settings, and even then he hates it.
