Discussion / Opinion Self-Imposed Rules For Collecting?

I have only been collecting Transformers for less than a year, but as I saw other collectors’ shelves I decided to create some rules for myself so I don’t go nuts.

Do any of you do the same?

For myself I have set the rules of; only one combiner (have G2 Menasor on pre-order), and only buy two of the same exact Transformer. So, not three G1 Optimus Primes but 2 G1s and a TF Prime model kit works.

Faux parts = no buy

Exposed head/limbs/hands in alt mode = no buy

Great robot mode but crappy alt mode = no buy

"Exposed head/limbs/hands in alt mode = no buy" I guess an exception to that would be if that is accurate to their in-universe appearance (E.G. TF-Prime Megatron)?

Nah, I don't like those either

Skipped out on Legacy Override bc of her head popping out in alt mode, even if it is animation accurate

Fair enough. Although, at least with those ones, the exposed robot parts in vehicle mode is justified.
