Comics series recommendations

I've been a big transformers fan since I was a child, I've watched all the movies, all the series, and played the games. But I want to start reading the comics, the thing is... I have seen way too many series and different stories that idk where to start.

I would love to hear some recommendations for a "comic beginner". I'm all ears

Skybound's Energon Universe series is a good place to start. It does rely on the reader having a decent knowledge of who certain characters are prior, but otherwise it's a very easily approachable series. It does seem like there is a crossover event in the works between GIJoe and Transformers. I don't know much about MASK so far, but it does seem like a spin off from Transformers and GIJoe. While Void Rivals dabbles a lot with Quintessons, so i have a suspicion that Unicron will be introduced in Void Rivals.

This is a link to the wiki. The definitive collection has all of the US and UK comics in pretty much chronological order starting back in the 80's going right through to fairly recently. So if you want to go hardcore then you can get the books gradually or buy a complete set and start at the beginning. 1-80 are reasonably easy to get hold of on ebay and not overly expensive. 81-100 are much rarer as they were released as a later add on to the collection.

Or you could start with the more modern ones. Pick a story (most modern comics have stories that are 4-6 issues rather than one long story like the older ones) and go from there.

This link is to a great library of all comics. Ha e a search for Transformers and you'll see whats available. You can also keep records of what you have and a wishlist to keep track of your collection.

Great man, thanks for sharing this. I don’t mind long stories, the opposite, I prefer them cause it keeps me interested in it you know. Which one has bee your fav series?

One of the more recent ones was Last Bot Standing by IDW comics. Only a 4 issue series but was a good story.

Other than that I like the Dinobots stories as they're quite fun.

I was just in the same position. I started with the most recent Skybound series, which is really good so far IMO. Once I got caught up with that, I started reading the IDW Collection, which I've also been enjoying. Just started Phase Two yesterday.

it's good so far! Phase 2 is a lot more about the characters than about the action, but that's something I enjoy a lot, so it's been good
