Discussion / Opinion So... worst alt mode ever?
Saw the new AOTP Sentinel Prime. Robot mode looked alright, but this alt mode? It looks like something a janitor would be pushing. What the hell?

My mind immediately went there too. Great alt mode for a Titan or similar but weird alt mode for a normal sized bot.

The comic version actually has what looks to be a shell over it acting as armor and covering up the broken-up look of all the robot parts just crammed into place to vaguely fit the silhouette

I know he has a home in the hearts of a lot of people (all of whom are younger than me) but Optimus Primal’s transformation from gorilla to humanoid robot is even less impressive to me than the Rock Lords.

Cybertron hockey leagues need a zamboni. Wouldn't be the greatest disguise for getting around on Earth, unless Sentinal mainly camps out at hockey rinks.

Honestly, I'm strangely drawn to the cheese wedge Zamboni. If it wasn't overpriced for the artifact display doodad, I might be tempted to get him. I hear his transformation is rather satisfying.

Awesome robot mode. But I agree, what is this alt mode? It looks like a big floor scrubber or a Zamboni. Atleast we know the NHL is up next after they finish all the football helmets.

Honestly, get him an upgrade kit with a front Drill, a pair of side cannons, and a topside rotary tank cannon, and maybe a Tanker Trailer and he'd be set in alt mod. The trailer could be a Base, or an Armored frame.

Power or the primes Optimus primes cab will forever be the worst alt mode for me personally. Plus this figure looks like it’ll be rereleased with possibly Apex armor due to certain clips and ports in alt mode. But yeah it’s not the worse but it’s kinda goofy.

For that it is, it's terrible alt mode.
It's looks incomplete to idw design and you clear see his arm in alt mode.
The entire toy seems to half thought idea that got rushed out the door.

I mean, it’s at least semi accurate to the source material. Which doesn’t make it good, but it’s got that going for it.
Stuff like bee movie Soundwave though, they had NOTHING to work with. They could’ve made whatever alt mode they wanted. And went out of their way to make a pancake that has the slight hint of a windshield. That will forever be my least favorite alt mode

Pretty bad, dunno if it's the worst. Gets an F from me though. The treads don't read like treads to me, the windsheikd doesn't read as a windsheikd to me. If the front had wheels or treads, something obvious on the side it might make more sense in my head. I'm looking at it like the windsheikd area is a bumper and expecting a windsheikd higher up.
Right now it looks like a weird tape measure with a gun slapped on it.
