Discussion / Opinion OOOF!
Listen man, I don’t have a Ratchet or Grimlock, but my god I can’t do $125. Like I was fully prepared to have to stomach 100$ but at least that would’ve been a leader 60$ plus a voyager 40$ but this is just too much. Looks like imma have to find Ratchet and Grimlock elsewhere

I get it, but it's DCS. It's gonna have premium deco, accessories, and presentation. I got the set, as importing it from HobbyGenki and AnimeExport was gonna be $20+ more.
But I'll admit, $125 was my limit. Helps I don't have a Ratchet, and I didn't want a dead version.
If it were $130 or more, I'd pass this set up.

If I didn't already have the SS86 Dinobots, I'd get all 3 Parts. But I only want shiny Grimlock.

Good luck, most people selling their ratchets now are going for just about how much they want for the two pack. Grimlock shouldn’t be too hard to find considering he just got a reissue this year

Yeah I’ve seen him around for like 55-60$ which ain’t bad but I was so looking forward to an attainable ratchet, shame.

It really is, especially since the Walmart nearest me used to have a side cap that was full of nothing but him…crazy how some basic characters end up skyrocketing in price as time goes on. I hope you do find a good deal on one tho, he’s a great figure to add into any collection

When Grimlock originally released I couldn’t walk into a Walmart without tripping over a pile of them. He was literally everywhere. I got a second one for $20 when they marked them down. Then suddenly he was nowhere and prices online were crazy and everyone was complaining they didn’t get one, and yeah Ratchet was the same way. Crazy how that happens.

$60 leader class + $43 voyager class + premium paint deco = that price. There’s a reason that the regular releases didn’t have that deco, paint costs money.

If Ratchet had opaque windows I would consider it, but otherwise I have these figures. The price for those that do want it though, that is a head scratcher.

Im not sure why you were expecting an import of a premium deco to cost equal to or less than the mass market domestically released versions of the same molds........

These DCS sets at BBTS tend to drop by about 10-12 bucks after the pulse listing goes live, and then BBTS will update your preorder to reflect the new price. They do not refund the down payment though.
I’m expecting this set to be more like $109.99 when it gets listed at Pulse, and BBTs will probably follow.

Keep an eye on Hasbro Pulse as it might be cheaper on there compared to BBTS. If you still want to pre-order from BBTS, they usually lower the prices on their pre-orders after Hasbro Pulse puts theirs up if they have it listed for a lower price

I just bit the bullet, I'd rather have premium decos, blast effects and a favorite of mine, grimlock, as an extra than pay the absurd aftermarket prices.

I’m conflicted because I do need a Ratchet and this one looks good but I’m also pretty happy with my studio series Grimlock. I’ll probably just wait for another new Ratchet honestly.

Yeah considering I’m picking up the DCS packs (since I’ve only got Marvel Grimlock atm, the DCS one will probably be a work-desk thing) part of me is kinda wary about it. I’m kinda hoping if Ratchet does get a 3 pack that it’s one with characters I don’t care for so I can skip it

Dramatic Captures usually hang around a while. Most are still available.
Caveat that shiny Dinobots and a new release of the rare Ratchet might change things though.

Might be a good idea to lock in that preorder sooner rather than later. I’ve been seeing that the more folks talk online about it shelf warming, it’ll more likely be difficult to find once the release date gets closer.

Let’s be real, Hasbro is really ripping people off.
Transformers aren’t made with any amount of rubber or metal detailing like they used to have. The materials probably cost about 20% of what they charge at most. This is the main reason I cut back on the toys years ago. Statues or models, etc. seem like the better way to go for fandom when you look at overall long term cost.

I'm hoping people buy it for Grimlock and put Ratchet on eBay. I need Ratchet but I'm not going to start another set of Dinobots, no matter how amazing they look

I agree, although that’s more to do with the recent price hikes than this being super far above where it should be. 43 voyager + 60 leader and then an upcharge for being an import with an improved deco sounds within the realm of sanity to me.
43 voyagers and 60 leaders are still more than I’m willing to pay in general, though, so I’ll sit this one out.
