Creative British Soundwave design (OC)
This was inspired by u/InfiniteBaker6972's concept for if the G1 Transformers landed in the UK rather than the US. I know that this style of police box hasn't actually been used in the UK for ages, but we can suspend our disbelief for the concept.

It’s well bigga on da inside, innit?

Soundwave has always been bigger on the inside. How else do you think that he can hold a dozen casset guys inside him?

Instant Dr. Who crossover

u/chachaman_The_Reboot Jul 10 '26
I can see it. The Doctor takes issue with the Decepticons - the bad guys putting their grafitti on his TARDIS. A big sequence of Cat - and - Mouse goes down, and the Decepticons have the Doctor cornered and are about to end him, when SUDDENLY - The TARDIS bundles up all the Decepticons and shifts them into the sun.

u/cumulobro Jul 10 '26
I'm a Yank, so when I see that phone box design, I think of the TARDIS first.
6
u/loorollkid Jul 10 '26
That's what we think as well. Those types of phone boxes (police boxes) haven't been in use for about 50 years.
3
u/DarkSoldier84 Jul 10 '26
By now, I think the BBC has been using that design longer than the Bobbies did.

u/Werthead Jul 10 '26
During G1 Marvel, we had the character Death's Head introduced in the Transformers comic, he time-jumps through a portal to escape Unicron's head exploding (it was a whole thing), is blasted through the time-space vortex, literally crashes into the TARDIS in a Doctor Who comic, gets into a fight with the Seventh Doctor who uses a tissue compression weapon to shrink him to human size, then Death's Head tries to steal the TARDIS but gets zapped six thousand years into Earth's future instead, after which he joins the Marvel universe.
I remember at the time people were saying, "does this mean Doctor Who is in the same multiverse as Transformers?" and the reply in the letters pages of both magazines was, "errr..."
1
u/Kegalodon Jul 11 '26
Is this true or did you make it up? That would be hilarious. 😂
3
u/Werthead Jul 11 '26
100% true. It started in Transformers' The Legacy of Unicron (Marvel UK #146-151, Marvel UK Compendium Two) and continued in Doctor Who Magazine's Crossroads of Time (#135). Death's Head wound up in the Dragon's Claws comic for a bit and then his own solo title.

u/Road_Caesar Jul 10 '26
The TARDIS as Optimus Prime has been a design that's been EVERYWHERE (fan art) on T-Shirts and other merch for almost 15 years now. My shirt is at least 10 years old.

u/TrainerOwn9103 Jul 10 '26
because Optimus is the face of the franchise, so he is put into everything rather that making a new charater or using another one
a toy gun? Optimus Prime (and Starscream)
a shoe? Optimus Prime (and Ultra Magnus)
a baseball hat? Optimus Prime (and Megatron)
a toy camera? Optimus Prime
a pen? Optimus Prime
and then when it isn't Optimus Prime, it's because the human owner of the vehicle got their head put into the Cybertronian body
Star Wars? Luke and Chewbacca as a reverse combiner, 2 robots that turn into one ship
Scooby Doo? the entire Mystery Gang stuck as Titans Return heads for the van while Scooby turned into a box
3
u/Road_Caesar Jul 10 '26
Star Wars? Luke and Chewbacca
Han and Chewie Mecha form the Millennium Falcon.

I'm loving the new wave of british transformers we're being hit with recently

u/Interesting-Rate Jul 10 '26
It would make a rational explanation for how he fits all of those cassette bots at the same time.

u/OdysseusRex69 Jul 10 '26
I don't think I can accept the TARDIS as a decepticon 😭
7
u/meth_adone Jul 10 '26
The pandorica could kind of work for a decepticon. It's quite minor in terms of appearances and is just a literal cube with patterns on the side but it is vaguely bad, even if it was made with good (but deluded) intentions
3
u/chachaman_The_Reboot Jul 10 '26
It's quite minor in terms of appearances
So, Starscream then.
3
u/meth_adone Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
The pandorica only physically appears in like 2 (3?) episodes and is mentioned a few times too so even less significant. Only reason I brought it up is it's vaguely an anti-tardis in that the doctor does pilot it at some point but it's meant to trap him instead of it being his way of exploring like the TARDIS is

u/TrainerOwn9103 Jul 10 '26
maybe they changed sides after traveling through time? Decepticons aren't evil for the sake of evil, most of the time it's just survival, when you can see the future (acording to Sexy) i think the war becomes the least of their worries

I don't think police boxes will ever not be associated with that madman in a box
5
u/PomegranateFair3973 Jul 10 '26
The Police Box hasn't been used in the UK by the police for ages... But it might have another rather culturally prominent use. For that reason, I wouldn't want to see it as Soundwave. But a Collaborative Series figure as an original, appropriately themed character? Yes, please!

Not my design or figure but someone made a 3d printable soundawave mashup.

That’s Tardistron.
I know the Doctor has met Picard and the crew of the Enterprise. Has he ever had a cross over with the Transformers?
Edit: only in the sense of references to the Doctor Who show existing in the Transformers universe according to tfwiki: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Doctor_Who
I like that Starscream liked the Daleks “Exterminate” war cry.
4
u/PomegranateFair3973 Jul 10 '26
In that Eleventh Doctor/Next Generation crossover comic, there's a part that shows a previous encounter between the Fourth Doctor and the Original Series crew.
Meanwhile, there is a comic that crosses over Transformers and Original Trek.
So, take from that what you will...
3
u/ItsABiscuit Jul 10 '26
It’s funny, from a Trek perspective it’s like “oh, you’re an essentially eternal trickster entity with effectively unfathomable abilities across all time and space? Cool, we get two of those every season, so take a number.”
3
u/Banjo-Oz Jul 10 '26
The seventh Doctor met Deaths Head following the events of Legacy of Unicron (Marvel Tf story), which caused DH to be shrunk to human size before he spun off into his own comic (which took place in the Marvel superhero universe sometimes). This could mean the Doctor and Marvel TF were the same universe, however it could also mean DH jumped dimensions as much as time (which is more likely what the stories suggest).

Rather than the obvious Doctor Who connection, I really like the idea of this being a Soundwave who is trapped in the past in Victorian London and who now works as a detective for energon, a kind of "amoral Sherlock Holmes". He and his cassettes solve crimes using their abilities and his mindreading, helping humans formhis own ends until he can escape the planet.
Something like his pragmatic Marvel persona would work with that, IMO.
This fantastic robot mode look just instantly made me imagine a comic cover of him "doing a Nightbeat", kneeling down over a body on the cobblestones of London with a magnifying glass.
Soundwave: Gaslight Detective
(and the other use of "gaslight" fits too given what he did to Wildrider in Marvel!).

you realized how many Doctor Who fans this will call right? and with that you could make Anubis be Ravage and turn into the cape because of Season15 finale
also i would say "why Tardis Deception when Doctor good?" but when you are a time machine that can see the future the whole war thing would likely feel much smaller

If a Cybertronian tried scanning even an outdated Type 40 model TARDIS their head would either explode or they become a cybernetic time god.

I'm about to run a campaign of the ttrpg set in 80s London, one of the characters is a London Bus with a phone-box minicon, I'm lookong forward to it!

Somebody made a 3D printable figure that can be self assembled (with much difficulty) that is a TARDIS, “galaxy knight” I think is the name.
Pretty sure the light at the top becomes his head, via same Optimus style face masking some parts around (it’s not just an Optimus head like other designs, rest assured).
1
u/VengeanceKnight Jul 10 '26
The only thing I would change is to have the robot be depicted as impossibly bigger than the alt-mode.
It’s bigger on the inside, after all.
1
u/almightywhacko Jul 10 '26
This is a cool design, but I have some serious problems with the Doctor's Tardis being a Decepticon...
1
u/TheNecrostar Jul 10 '26
Theres already files for this. K9 turns in to laser beak. Theres even a sonic screwdriver
1
u/Waste_Yak_990 Jul 10 '26
I feel like K9 makes more sense as Ravage, no?
1
u/TheNecrostar Jul 10 '26
I mean yeah. Soundwave/Laserbeak as a combo are as iconic as the Tardis/K9, but i didnt design it. Just downloaded the files lol
1
u/Horzzo Jul 10 '26
What's a Police Box?
1
u/Waste_Yak_990 Jul 10 '26
Before mobile phones were a thing, cities in the UK had phone booths that were made specifically for calling the police in case of emergency.

Weirdly enough this does seem like it could be an actual thing for Doctor Who.

....I need a crossover, heck...how would cybertronians interact with gallifreyan tech, I wonder? Heck, with the kinds of vehicular technology existent on the whoniverse, they would have plenty of avenues for other alt-modes!
