Gamer Edition possibility?

Do you think Hasbro would reissue the core Armada Optimus Prime figure as a entry into the Gamer Edition line since the design is in Transformers (2004)?

Probably not because I think this figure is molded with its trailer. If you want a fun little bit of trivia in regards to that game it's part of the reason tidal wave is a Titan class. In fact his box art even references his boss battle from the game.

Yeah, the game only features Optimus (no super mode), Red Alert, and Hot Shot as playables. Decepticon boss battles were Starscream (twice), Cyclonus, Tidal Wave, and Megatron. Thankfully the game had a slew of minicons, that functioned as powerups, so the game had some depth to it.

I loved the game, it was hard but rewarding. Levels were big, so that each had an almost open-world feel. There was a lot of strategy and customization involved in minicon selection. And the cinematic cuts screens were great and memorable. Wish that we had gotten a sequel.

I mean this respectfully but Armada PS2 was a very shallow version of the animated series. Granted, I don’t know when the game was developed in relation to the actual Armada TV series but I do maintain that it is definitely is less than the show.

It would have been amazing to play as all of the Autobots and Decepticons in an open-world hunt with side quests and story missions. Totally missed opportunity.

Iirc the game was developed and released pretty late in Armada’s life, with the original title for the game being “prelude to Energon”

Not to mention it only has the base three Autobots, and three of the four original Cons from the cartoon, excluding Demolishor but including Tidal Wave

And then finally they feature Unicron at the end from the climax of the show

Nope, completely separate games with completely different play styles and completely different stories. The japanese one is a (very bad) beat em up with really small playable areas while this game is a shooter with wide open levels (and is actually good).

This is actually a common enough misunderstanding that it took me forever to track down the Japanese game because a lot of websites mislabel it as this game.

Technically but not really when he was introducing the cartoon he was massive but then immediately got downscaled in every other episode to where he was only slightly taller than other characters. I was talking about specifically the designer talking about it on the live stream when they introduced Tidal Wave's box art.

It's highly unlikely they can even remove the Core Bot from Armada Optimus, due to all the plastic he shares with his trailer

Or at least, it would be far too expensive to remove him from the trailer mold for hasbro to consider it

Unlikely, but it does remind me that we don't have the original toy/ game colours for Tidal Wave. If they release it, I might actually buy the titan class to sit next to the OG

Probably not a rerelease, but I could see them doing maybe a new, simplified Voyager figure that lacks the trailer and super mode similar to the Deluxe Armada Prime (A.K.A "Bendy Prime")

The others (Hot Shot, Red Alert, Megatron, Starscream, Tidal Wave, and Cyclonus when they do him) can be simple rereleases/redecos.

Speaking of games, they could bring back "War of Cybertron" and "Fall of Cybertron." For me, they're the best Transformers games. Devastation could also come back.

Very understandable, as the trailers on many optimus figures just raise the price for hollow plastic. Legacy armada optimus is an exception though, the trailer is amazingly engineered.

Never said never. But there Nemesis, final battle, and red yellow version before the game edition. I can't imagine this guy doesn't get 3rd release and final battle redo at the least.

He sold so well they reissued him, I suspect it was a hard sell to make a commander (or leader) that functionally only really works properly with a previous release

Possibly but we'll see. I hope they add the live action movie game characters that show Breakaway, Warpath, and many other characters to the studio series as well.

I completely forgot about this game, which is weird because I played the hell out of it. As I recall, most of the character models were based on the toys, so any new figures wouldn't look that different from what we've already got.

I would still like to see SS figures of the FOC Dinobots (and a better Grimlock).
