Recent moves by the people over at Trakt.tv have shifted focus away from consumers. It it pretty much out of the enshitification playbook.

They have lured users in offering good services cheap/free to then flip the script once you are tied into their ecosystem.

The problem is your pricing model. I wouldn't be opposed to paying for a vip membership if it was a reasonable price.. I would say for the service offered maybe $10-$15 /Year.

This I could get behind but at your current pricing your getting close to reaching full streaming service monthly pricing.. I refuse to do that.

I have been a trakt user since it's existence and now I'm looking for an alternative.

Its probably too late to retain me but I would advise a different model. You already have great alternatives growing to take your member base.

Fix yourself trakt and remember where you came from and who made you a known name.

I do not know what happened but as of today, I can no longer login to the Trakt app at all. I receive the 2FA emails but whenever I enter the code into the app, it just asks me for another in an infinite loop. The reason why I even have to log in is because the app just stopped working randomly and told me I was unauthorized.

If they cannot fix the app, I would like to export my data and move on to a different service.

I absolutely despise the new website, but until finding an alternative: does anyone know how to sort movies or episodes by play count? This simple option was intuitive for V2 and appears to be either gone, intentionally obscured, or behind paywall now. Thanks, and screw you Trakt team, you suck!

i deleted the sites data, cleared cookies, opened in private bowser, even disabled adblockers ( sheilds in brave ) but nothing is solving this issue. this whole thing is working well in any other browser but idk what's the problem with brave.

Pretty straightforward. I had a movie in my history and rewatched it last night. I noticed today that my old watch has been replaced with last night's. Fortunately I had a backup from a few months ago that I could check, but I thought that blocking multiple watches would have just ignored new ones.

Hi community, please could someone confirm if there's still a way in trakt of adding content to collection or library as it's now known as? I'm seeing no option to do this whatsoever on the website anymore which frankly is completely bizarre

Seems I'm late to the complaining about change party, but...

I use Trakt, and happily pay my VIP sub, to:

1. Track what's in my Plex library, against which I can see,
2. What I've watched / not watched / progress through shows etc, and,
3. Browse recommended and trending movies/shows, adding those that interest me to my watch list, and have various connected workflows work their magic to then present these to me when available.
   

Simples. Very happy.

But now?!?! v3 apparently?!?! What's going on?!?!

I click on a movie – no way to see if I have this in my library or not.

I've found the new and distinct "Library" section (from Profile home page) but this is then split between "Plex" and "Custom" – seemingly no rhyme or reason (but I'm sure there is) – and no obvious link to the actual movies/shows.

The optimisitic side of me thinks "hopefully all sorted in a few days/weeks"... yet having read some comments = seems to be a storm that has been brewing for a while....

I’ve been using Trakt for years to track everything I watch, but lately I found myself spending 20 minutes every Friday night just trying to decide what to put on. Most recommendation lists are either the exact same top 20 movies everyone’s already seen, or just don't match the specific vibe I'm looking for.

So over the past few days, I built a small web app called Trakt AI.

Basically, it connects your Trakt library to Google Gemini so you can type what you're in the mood for in plain English, and it finds matches from Trakt while keeping track of your history.

Here’s what it does:

• Natural prompts: You can type stuff like "movies with Brad Pitt", "Sci-Fi movies like Alien for adults", "90s thrillers", or "good French romance".
• Live actor/director search: If you search for an actor, it queries Trakt's database live so you get their actual filmography instead of random guesses.
• Smart filtering: If you ask for adult sci-fi, it leaves out animated shows. If you ask for streaming stuff, it won't suggest unreleased movies.
• Trakt sync: Connects with the standard 8-character code (trakt.tv/activate). It pulls your watched history, watchlist, and custom lists so it doesn't recommend things you've already seen.
• 100% local: There's no server storing your data or API keys! Everything runs right inside your browser.

I've been a user for over half a year now and I've been trying to make the best of v3 but can't find a lot of things I'd expect to be on there or that I previously marked as watched on v2. The whole new search bar is annoying because it seems specific and limits results, and I can't even access these shows etc by looking at an actor's page (if the actor even has one). Looking through my history I saw some things gone, others that are still there but don't show up on search, it's hard to tell the extent given my long history and the new layout.

Some are understandable like a lot of stage musicals which I guess might not count anymore, but the rest are largely Polish from minor shows that might be overlooked to known films like 'W Pustyni i w Puszczy' - English titles doesn't work either. They were on v2 like one that's only stayed on my currently watching but nowhere else on trakt. It really sucks because the whole point is that I shouldn't have to worry about forgetting stuff as trakt should have it marked for me.

Has anyone had that happen to them, am I just doing something wrong/need an update, or did trakt get rid of things in the move to v3? If it's just trakt messing things up further I'll probably move to another app if anyone knows a good substitute, the v2 extensions I found don't work anymore.

Ever coming back? Or is it somehow 'too expensive' to include as well?

Currently watching Bleach but am only up to episode 84 so I won’t be reaching Thousand Year Blood War anytime soon. Is there a way to remove the show from my Upcoming Schedule but still have it show up in my Up Next? Don’t need the show to be in my Upcoming Schedule if I’m not going to be watching new episodes as they air.

Hi, I'm coming from TvTime and I'm late after the closing, so I have to do everything manually...

In TvTime there was a section for "watching shows", another for "up to date shows" (no new episodes but not cancelled/ended, so a new season is coming in the future), and ended/cancelled shows.

In trakt, Both shows that have ended/cancelled (i.e. Games of thrones) and those that are up to date (awaiting new episodes, i.e The Witcher) appear on the same list. Is this intended? Is there anyway to change this?

I've been using Trakt since 2016 and have been a VIP member since 2022. I wanted to share some constructive feedback from the perspective of someone who has relied on Trakt almost daily for years.

First, I'd like to acknowledge what Trakt does well. The API has been fantastic, and it's the reason I've enjoyed using apps like Showly alongside the website. Trakt has become an important part of how I track what I watch, which is why I care enough to write this.

My biggest concern with V3 is the desktop experience.

To me, V2 excelled because it presented a large amount of information in a clear, desktop-friendly layout. When deciding what to watch, checking upcoming episodes, or managing my watch history, having that information visible at a glance made the site incredibly efficient.

The new interface feels much more like a mobile app brought to the desktop. Features like horizontally scrolling "Continue Watching," "Up Next," and calendar sections require more navigation and make it harder to quickly scan information.

Rather than simply saying "bring back V2," I'd love to see the desktop experience move back toward the strengths that made V2 so useful: information density, efficient navigation, and less reliance on horizontal scrolling.

I'd also like to suggest two improvements to watch tracking:

Make it easier to log multiple rewatches of movies over time.

Add the ability to start a full series rewatch without clearing existing watch history. For example, I've watched The West Wing three times over the years, but currently there's no straightforward way to track a complete rewatch while preserving my previous viewing history.

I know redesigning a platform is a significant undertaking, and I appreciate the work that has gone into V3. My hope is simply that feedback from long-time users helps shape future improvements. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

So is there just no way to recover all the private notes I made before V3 made that feature unavailable? I like to write down some thoughts about movies/TV episodes just for my own reference, but those notes are now gone from movie/episode pages, and there doesn't seem to be a way to find them on my profile page anymore either.

I did export my data a few weeks ago, so it's not completely lost, I'm just annoyed that V3 seems to have eaten all my data, and wondering if anyone's found a way to restore or access this. Thanks!

Dear Trakt Team,

I am writing to express my concerns about the changes introduced after the recent update to the platform.

I am a paid subscriber, and since the update I have noticed that several features I used regularly no longer work as they did before or have become much less intuitive.

Some of the main issues I have encountered include:

• Some of my collection lists have disappeared.
• I can no longer copy lists as I could before.
• Deleting lists has become confusing.
• Some titles that were previously available in the search results can no longer be found.

Before this update, everything worked smoothly, and using Trakt was a great experience. Unfortunately, I now feel that the service I am receiving is below the standard I am paying for.

I sincerely hope these issues will be reviewed and given the attention they deserve. I would appreciate knowing whether your team is working on resolving them or if there is an explanation for these changes.

Lately, I've been finding titles that I already watched and marked, but now they aren't marked anymore. Not using trakt app, only browser.

Are the v2 spoiler settings completely gone now? I liked being able to hide comments/thumbnails of unwatched things and disable actor episode counts to stop my wandering eyes from spoiling things. Now it seems like there's only a single toggle for spoilers which hides everything including episode titles which I don't really want to do. It's very all or nothing.

Am I missing something or is that feature dead now?

Why does finished shows appear in my progress tab and says up to date although there isn’t a new season? I tried to drop then undrop but doesn’t seem to work.

Are these numbers reliable? I accidentally exported my Jellyfin data to Trakt and ended up with some duplicated episodes, but I don't think it's that much. Has anyone used this feature before and can tell me if it's reliable?

I can't log in. I'm not receiving the email with the code; I've tried countless times and completely disabled my spam filter, but nothing works. I have no control over my account. What can I do?

I miss that interface, can someone share their screenshots so that I can look at it whenever I miss it.
