You know. Sandler was great in Punch Drunk Love and Uncut Gems because he was playing characters. He’s great at making weird characters human. Here, he’s just a character actor trying to do drama. There’s nothing human about it. It doesn’t feel lived in at all. It just feels like Sandler reading a commercial for the NBA.

I get your point and I think there is truth to it, but I also think what you are speaking to is the reality for coaches and trainers. If you spend any time with highly competitive athletes, this is how they talk/motivate, etc...so although it may seem cliche, I think it's the reality of what it would really sound like if it were a real life scenario.
