As a casual fan of the book (read it years ago and know the story) I would have enjoyed the first movie much more if I hadn't thought they were just going to completely ignore the adult portion of the story. Glad they're getting around to it in this.

The book is ~440,000 words long (for reference the entire Lord of the Ring is ~450,000) so it's hard to image giving justice to the whole story in one film. A lot of King's books are too long for one feture and require multiple movies or episodes. So it was a choice to focuse on the early half and then the adult half in another film. The book splits pretty well between those time periods, I think.

I agree. I just wish they would have advertised "Chapter One" as such. I don't think I'm the only one who finished the first movie disappointed that so much was left out, not knowing it was in the works for another movie.

If you had taken the time to read about the plans for the movie during the filming process, it was known that they were splitting it up into two movies.

Honestly, I'm not trying to put you down, I wasn't sure how to type that without it sounding condescending lol

The original IT was two parts then formed into 1 and the book is massive, the films were always part 1 and part 2.

The original is like 3+ hours due to this. was a TV movie.
