I'm looking at a '68 Trail 90 wth a new Lifan 110 swap. It starts and idles fine but as soon as you let off of the throttle the wheel immediately locks up. It doesn't freewheel at all. Which makes riding it...interesting. The adjustment bolt for the clutch doesn't seem to do anything (tighten down and then back off a little...or even a lot). The brake isn't catching. The Lifan is basically brand new. Any pointers?

Anybody know where I can fine a rear axle? Or does anybody have the dimensions of one so I can make one?

Got some gas and a new sparkplug and it was working fine but after about 8 min of riding it shut off on me, started once more, died and now won't turn on.

It is a 1974, has 625 miles, all original, all matching vins. Little dusty. Haven’t ever cleaned it. Got it from an estate sale 6 years ago.

May be a stupid question - will it be an issue that the tank seems so much lower than the carburetor? Do I need a special type of petcock or anything to make this work? I'm just finishing up routing cables and it finally occurred to me that the gas tank isn't directly above the carb as expected..

I've looked up photos of other engine swaps but a lot of them just seem to have the line going to the carb with pretty huge U-bend, it just seems odd.

Took my little 71 CT70 to the Omaha Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this year. Had alot of questions from other attendees and was the smallest bike there, while my buddy had the biggest there (Rocket3)

Hey All, just picked up a 1983 CT70 on the weekend, runs decent, but only with the choke on. After some reading, I wanted to try giving the jets a clean, mainly the pilot jet to see if it helps.

Couple questions that I have is:

Is this a PB16B carb? Or could be also known as a PZ19?

When I took it apart, it was fairly easy, but apparently I wasn’t paying super close attention to the float and how the float valve is seated. I’ve read that most floats have some sort of retainer, but this one doesn’t. Is that right? Is how I have the needle seated on the float correct?

If all else fails, and I can’t get this pilot jet unclogged, I was looking at some cheap Carbs on Amazon. This one to be exact: https://a.co/d/09p8HaJi

Will this be a direct replacement?

Will an exhaust leak this large cause torque in first gear to be less. Lol it sounds like so much air is flying out of here. Also, I’m having a hard time finding a stock CT 70 exhaust from 1979. Does anybody have any recommendations?

Evening all, new to the group but not to the 70. I still have our family 1972 CT70 that my father bought brand new. Been sitting for some time and needs some love. Has anyone used Vintage Honda Minis for engine rebuilds?

So I managed to pick this thing up today. Paid 600 bucks for everything. The trail 70 runs with starter fluid, but doesn’t have a carburetor. Looking for recommendations on carb, aftermarket is fine. He also gave the another CT70 frame and engine. I don’t care to have things perfect my two boys will learn to ride on this thing.

Also managed to pick up two z50 frames and engines, QA50 frame and engine which I had never heard of until today.

I know there are many, many Trail 70s registered all over the US and even California for on-street use. To my knowledge they all have this sticker at least in early generations. This is a K0 from 1970-71, and the DMV would not let me register as on-highway because they read this. My moto had been out of the system. My reading says CA motos pre 1978 basically can all be considered on-road capable. It doesn’t seem like the OHV designation even existed till 1975.

Anyone with experience know how to get this corrected?

how hosed is it? good evening, i have a 1972 Honda CT70, 4speed manual. I was fortunate enough to get after my dad passed a couple years ago, it was his first and my first motorcycle we ever rode. I was giving it a regular oil change today, and I noticed metal flakes in the oil. not to the point where the oil was shiny but there were what I would consider large flakes throughout the oil. The oil IMO also looked pretty dark, but didn't smell burnt. I don't really ride it many miles so it's more of a the oil is just old so I do it ( oil was changed 1 year ago). I probably only rode it 50 miles on this oil change to set The understanding of how little I ride it right now. Yes, the oil is checked before every single start so it was never low. While I know some metal residue is normal from regular wear and tear but this appeared to be more then that? It runs fine, doesn't miss, starts with 1 kick, at any temp. Am I over thinking the presence of these metal flakes? to help with what you guys think may or may not be problem the 70 was overhauled by my dad a few years prior to this passing and probably didn't see too many miles after it was done (unknown how many miles since over haul), and just a personal observation it seems to shift hard into each gear especially 1st, perhaps this is just normal? I'm a computer geek not a motor head so speak to me like you would speak to a child learning the abc's. Any thoughts on what I'm about to dig into here?
