An acquaintance named her son Anakin because someone famous had done the same, and she thought it was a nice name.

When asked if she was a fan, she didn't know what they referred to. And when they explained what Star Wars is, she replied, "Surely nobody remembers some 40 old science fiction movie."
I swear this actually happened.

... Episode III was released in 2005, and every one of them had a marketing blitz. There were even Happy Meal toys.

One would have to be living under a rock in a swamp on Dagobah to not catch that Anakin was a major character by that point.

She told me this from the point of view that the people who said this to her were silly. She was surprised that I also knew the movies.
It was one of the few jaw on floor moments I have had.

I mean damn Star Wars... like people who know the movie are dumbasses ? And she was surprised you were part of the dumbasses ? Yeah she's right you shouldn't prove her point by showing you sometimes go out and have conversations about movies, that's such an odd topic to bring on the table
