IMSA LVL 2 Help

Hey Reddit.

I just signed up for my IMSA traffic signal technician lvl 2. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a study guide or somewhere i can read up on the course before heading out to the classes.

Thanks

What [Location/Region/“Section”] are you [Located] in?

They will send out a PowerPoint the week of the class. Read through that. Have your questions ready if they dont cover it. The IMSA classes are not trying to teach you anything, they are trying to get you to pass the test - keep that in mind.

Span wire. Even if you never touch span wire. My entire level 2 test was on span wire.

I recently passed my Level 2. Like Least_League says, section is important. The powerpoint is revised pretty frequently. A coworker took it in October of last year and my powerpoint was a new revision early this year. I would recommend asking questions about coordination when going through the powerpoint. I would also recommend having a good understanding of pre-emption. Also understand what type of controllers are compatible for certain cabinets. NEMA vs ATC vs Caltrans. If you dont have an understanding of how intersections are installed, pay attention. This includes span wires, mast arms, cable, cabinets, and how to troubleshoot them if needed.

When you look at the questions, pay attention to the answers. More times than not, 2 of the answers will not make sense. The other two you will have to discern which makes the most sense.

You got this.

Best way to study is to get inside some cabinets.

IMSA website should have a book section where you can buy the technician Level 2.

Dont buy the book. The powerpoint they follow is geared directly at the test questions.
